Steeped in history, Boggy Depot State Park is located in the ghost town of the former Boggy Depot townsite. Relocated Indians were supplied at Boggy Depot and it served as the temporary capital of the Choctaw Nation. Confederate soldiers and a former Choctaw chief are buried at the park, which was also the site of the Civil War Battle of Middle Boggy. The Butterfield-Overland Stage route also ran through the park.
