Take a tour of the newly renovated lodge at Roman Nose State Park.

Located in northwestern Oklahoma, Blaine County was named after James G. Blaine, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.  Built in 1906, the county courthouse is located in Watonga, the county seat.  In the early 1900s, railroad lines were built in the area and included the Enid and Anadarko Railway, the Blackwell, Enid and Southwestern Railroad, and the Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway.  Gypsum mining has long been a major industry in Blaine County, and the first gypsum mill in Oklahoma Territory was located here.  Visitors to Blaine County enjoy Roman Nose State Park, the Canadian Rivers Historical Museum and the annual Watonga Cheese Festival.

In 2000, census records showed 11,976 people living in Blaine County.  Countless assets exist for tracing genealogy in Blaine County including legal records, cemetery records and a local genealogical society.  Valuable resources for researching genealogy in Blaine County are provided below, including a list of existing towns, the county courthouse address and a detailed map of the county.
