Garfield County, located in north-central Oklahoma, was named after President James A. Garfield. The Chisholm Trail, used in the 1800s to drive cattle from Texas to Kansas, went through the county. In the late 1800s, railroads began construction in the area. The Railroad Museum of Oklahoma located in Enid shows the history of the railroad in Garfield County.
