Fall Fun on the Farm
As fall rolls around each year, farms in Oklahoma gear up to share their harvest bounty with plump pumpkins, vast corn mazes and family-friendly autumn fun.
When the weather cools and the air turns crisp, there’s no better place to feel the magic of fall than on an Oklahoma farm. The harvest season brings colorful foliage, sweet corn, mild weather and pumpkins galore as farms across the state open their gates to visitors, inviting them to revel in the wonders of autumn’s glory. Urban and rural folks alike are encouraged to bask in the slow pace of farm life while visiting pumpkin patches and corn mazes, highlights of many farms in the fall.
Spend the day returning to a simpler time as you greet rabbits and goats, explore tricky mazes made of hay bales or acres of cornstalks and play in the great outdoors. Situated directly on historic Route 66, P Bar Farms Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch in Weatherford is an acclaimed farm-turned-agricultural attraction that is known for providing picture perfect fall memories. This popular autumn destination offers a petting zoo full of friendly farm animals, a miniature golf course and laser tag among the multitude of things to do there.
Venture into the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect pumpkin right from the vine while snapping album-ready photos of the family during their search. After your pumpkins are purchased, don’t miss an opportunity to navigate through the farm’s main attraction: a seven-acre cornfield maze with three-and-a-half miles of winding paths, which can take up to an hour to get through (depending on your maze skills). When it gets dark, the laser tag barn and the maze are haunted by creepy monsters and scary creatures of the night, so muster up your courage and enter into the unknown as soon as the sun sets.
The Maize at Reding Farm - Chickasha
Get lost in the largest corn maze in Oklahoma with a jaunt through The Maize at Reding Farm in Chickasha. The farm’s 35 acres of corn make for a challenging course that takes anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour to complete. Not only does this farm boast a massive corn maze, it also features a pumpkin patch, hayrides, “cow” train rides, a sand pile filled with toys and a corn cannon. Gather around the campfire to tell stories, drink hot chocolate and snack on s’mores. Woodbine Farms Pumpkin Patch - Ardmore
A shady grove of oak trees holds all-day autumn excitement at Woodbine Farms Pumpkin Patch in Ardmore. Feed the friendly donkeys, goats and llamas that call the farm their home, then take a relaxing hayride. With a sand pile to play on, bounce house to jump in and a rope maze to conquer, children will be amazed at the adventures around every corner. Visit the on-site concession stand for a tasty treat, and pick out a plump pumpkin from the patch to take home with you.
TG Farms - Norman & Newcastle
Travel to TG Farms for a fantastic pumpkin patch experience. With locations in both Norman and Newcastle, there’s plenty of room for everyone. Bring the little ones as well as older kids to pick a prime pumpkin straight from the patch, and spend the day enjoying a wide variety of activities. Tackle twists and turns in the hay maze or corn maze, then spend some time getting to know the farm animals, from horses to ducks. A hay slide and tricycles keep kids entertained, and parents can go with them on a hayride. Visit the concession stand for a snack, and don’t forget to pick up a souvenir in the gift shop.
Wild Things Farm - Pocola
With more than 90 acres of farm fun awaiting you, Wild Things Farm in Pocola is a great destination during Autumn. The pumpkin patch on this picturesque farm is a picker’s dream, with pumpkins of all sizes ripe for the taking. Children will get an up-close view of life on a working farm, including the various animals that live there such as goats, donkeys and ducks, while learning about growing pumpkins and other vegetables. Test your navigational skills in the corn maze, then let the kids go on a pony ride. Stick around for a peaceful evening around a glowing campfire with friends and family.
Annabelle's Fun Farm - Welch
Colorful, quirky barns set the stage for imaginative playtime at Annabelle’s Fun Farm in Welch in far northeast Oklahoma. Kids can explore the corn maze, see farm animals including chickens, goats and peacocks, and take a dive in the box of corn kernels. Mining for gems and real arrowheads captivates young minds, and spending some time in Kiddie Land, with swings, slides and objects to climb on, is a delightful time for the kids. Make sure you take a ride on the Annabelle Express, a mini-train that will transport you all over the farm. Complete the day by going out into the pumpkin patch to hand-pick the best pumpkin you can find.
Baker Pecans & Baker's Acres - Tishomingo
Bring the whole family out to Baker Pecans & Baker’s Acres in Tishomingo to select a pumpkin from the patch, then check out the array of fall activities that can be found there. Meeting barnyard animals, jumping on a giant bounce pillow and wandering through a hay maze are a few of the things that keep kids busy here each Autumn. Children can also climb to the top of the hay mountain to take in the views of the farm and stake their claim. Visit the orange-dotted pumpkin patch, then go on a hayride or take a tour of the farm on the mini train. And, parents will want to explore the on-site store, where they can shop for gifts, pecan products, candies and more.
Parkhurst Ranch & Pumpkin Patch - Arcadia
Plan your fall family getaway at Parkhurst Ranch & Pumpkin Patch in Arcadia and enjoy everything from hay wagon rides to pony rides on this working farm. Take your children to the pumpkin patch to choose their own pumpkin to take home, let them gather organic pecans under giant trees, then stroll over to the petting zoo, where they’ll get a good look at rabbits, turkeys, horses and pigs.
