Super heroes, villains, space creatures and more reside en masse here.

Garvin County, located in south-central Oklahoma, was named after Samuel J. Garvin, a prominent cattleman, merchant and banker.  By statehood in 1907, two rail lines already served the county and a stage line crossed the Washita River near Pauls Valley.  The restored 1905 Santa Fe Depot Museum in Pauls Valley is filled with local and railroad history items.  Also located in Pauls Valley, the Toy and Action Figure Museum has something for kids of all ages.

In 2000, census records showed 27,210 people living in Garvin County.  Countless assets exist for tracing genealogy in Garvin County including legal records, cemetery records and a local historical society.  Valuable resources for researching genealogy in Garvin County are provided below, including a list of existing towns, a list of ghost towns, the county courthouse address, a detailed map of the county, library information and a list of cemeteries located within the county.  A list of places to visit in Garvin County is also provided for visitors to the area.
