Created in 1907 at statehood, Kingfisher County is located in central Oklahoma. Trails used in the area prior to settlement included the Chisholm Trail and stagecoach roads. The Chicago, Kansas and Nebraska Railway came into the county in 1899. Located in Kingfisher, the county seat, the Chisholm Trail Museum features artifacts and exhibits from the historic trail. The Governor Seay Mansion, completed in 1892, is just across the street from the museum.
