Washita County.

Located in western Oklahoma, Washita County was named for the Washita River that runs through the county.  Early trails in Washita County included the Great Spanish Trail and the California Road.  In 1874, the Great Western Cattle Trail was established. The county’s first railroad, the Blackwell, Enid and Southwestern Railroad, was built in 1902.  Agriculture and raising cattle have been the county’s main economic sources.  In Cordell, the Washita County Museum houses artifacts and documents from Washita County history.  Crowder Lake University Park near Crowder offers camping, fishing, canoeing and more.
