Many years ago, I spent many a winter's day fishing in the heated dock, here. I am getting back into fishing and would like to spend some time this winter fishing in a dock. I called yesterday to see if they were still open and what their hours were. It is under new ownership, he was very rude on the phone, he only half listened to me with great annoyance in his voice I either disturbed him, he didn't want to talk to a woman, or he was only interested in his new restaurant and didn't want to talk fishing, he kept trying to hang up without answering my questions, which he finally ended up doing before I found out all I needed to know, he played up the restaurant but was very indifferent to the indoor fishing. He did not at all sound interested in getting my business. On the Internet, he advertises there is still heated, indoor fishing. In reality, they have taken out most of the indoor fishing to put in the restaurant. He said most people just fish off of the dock outside. There is a small well inside to fish in now and he said, Well, if I open the door to it, it lets the heat in and then it is heated. The hours of fishing are also different than he has listed online, they are much shorter, which he gave with a small laugh. The number of days of indoor fishing is also less than stated online. He hung up on me before I could find out any details of the camping he has now put in. All I got was, Yes, we have camping now. but no details as to cost, tent and/or RV sites, showers, etc. I felt that my call was not in the least wanted nor appreciated, nor was my business. I will be calling around other marinas to find one that is more friendly, not misleading, and much closer to what I am looking for. If I want to spend my winter days in a restaurant socializing and eating, I can do that here in town. I go to a dock to fish for my food and enjoy the company of other fishermen.

I use to go to Caney Ridge Marina with my dad when I was a little girl. We had our boat docked there and I spent a lot of time in the winter fishing inside the heated dock. It was a very simple place then, but I absolutely loved it! It sounds like it has made great improvements over the years because one of the things I remember the most was the STEEP entrances to the dock. They were barely a car wide and if you met someone coming the other way, SOMEONE had to back up. I haven't been there in many years, but I am hoping to get to go soon and show my boyfriend where I fished in the winters, as a child.
