The Chesapeake Boathouse is home to Oklahoma City Riversport, your passport to the most exciting sports available on the Oklahoma River and Lake Overholser. Riversport helps visitors learn everything they need to get on the water, whether it's kayaking, canoeing or dragon boating. Riversport offers rowing and kayaking lessons for all ages, plus kayak and paddleboat rentals daily.
Kayaking is open to everyone over eight years of age and is a fun way to get on the water. Riversport gives kayakers access to some of the best water in the OKC metro area including downtown on the Oklahoma River and Lake Overholser. The Route 66 Boathouse, located on the east shore of Lake Overholser, is one of the best places to kayak in central Oklahoma. Quiet waterways are a great place to learn the basics, and just a short paddle away from the scenic Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge, where visitors can enjoy kayaking on their own or with a group.
The Route 66 Boathouse offers hourly kayak and bike rentals; kayak rentals are also available at the Chesapeake Boathouse, located downtown on the Oklahoma River. Experienced paddlers will enjoy guided paddles, which include group excursions into the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge and Full Moon Paddles to watch the new moon. Rent one of Riversport's kayaks or use your own. Dragon boating is the world’s fastest growing water sport. In the United States, dragon boats can be found on the water from Boston and Philadelphia to Tampa Bay, Seattle, and now Oklahoma City. Schedule a Riversport dragon boat rental for your large group or family reunion.
Whether you’re a serious cyclist in training or are just biking for fun, you’ll enjoy exploring the Oklahoma River’s over 13 miles of trails or the scenic routes at the Route 66 Boathouse at Lake Overholser. Bring your own bike or rent one from Riversport. Bicycle rentals are available daily with the last rental at 7pm on weekdays and 4pm on weekends, one hour prior to boathouse closing.
