The Purdy Cabin is a wonderful place to stay. We were looking for a cabin type retreat not far from Tulsa that would sleep comfortably several people. Fortunately, the Purdy Cabin is here and located right near the Illinois. It's a beautiful home with an AMAZING three-tiered deck! There is a propane grill for cooking out on the deck and plenty of seating and table space for eating or socializing. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils, cups, plates, whatever you need. There is a large living space and fireplace. The entire house was clean and homey. The bedding was comfortable and there are two full bathrooms. Beth is the caretaker and she will make sure your stay is perfect. Also, there are lots of birds to see for the birdwatcher in your group and Beth has some literature on the types of birds that are usually around. Also, you can usually see some pretty large fish down in the water as there is a calm inlet from the river that backs up to the cabin. You can see the fish from the deck as you sip on a cold beer in the shade. I'd love to come back in the fall at some point.

What a welcoming retreat! The attention to detail focusing on the naturalistic aspects of Tahlequah is remarkable. Our family had an excellent stay and appreciate the hospitality and kindness over the three days span. The Purdy Cabin filled our hearts with happiness, relaxation, and gorgeous scenery. The tranquility and peacefulness experienced while lounging on the deck inspired us to reflect on the important aspects of our lives and environment. We will surely be back and are thankful for the time spent in this beautiful part of the state. Once again, than you so very much Beth, for inviting our family to your family's cabin and for making our stay memorable. We appreciate your hospitality, thoughtfulness, kindness, and generosity. The bird watching is amazing and the firefly strobe-like light show across the slough is spectacular.

We absolutely loved this place. It was the perfect place to have a family gathering for graduation. The weather was beautiful and we spent most of our time out on the beautiful three tiered deck. There were beautiful birds, especially cardinals everywhere. We also enjoyed watching the squirrels and the turtles and fish down by the waters edge. The house was very clean and the beds very comfortable and Beth was a wonderful hostess and had added little special touches everywhere. We definitely want to go back and just relax and rewind!! It truly is a beautiful place to stay. Thank you for everything, Beth.

Friends weekend getaway... this is an absolutely lovely, peaceful place to spend time with friends and enjoy nature at its best. Beth is a very gracious hostess and will try to accommodate whatever your needs might be during your stay. A weekend is just not long enough though! The cabin has everything anyone could possibly need for a vacation by the water's edge. Just cannot say enough good things about it. Eloise, Shari, Wendy were very comfortable at the cabin and would not hesitate to go back again!!

On the Thursday before Labor Day I decided my husband and I needed a Labor Day weekend getaway and looked at travelok.com. I saw the Purdy Cabin and took a chance and called Beth. She’s very professional and friendly, easy to visit with, just like we’d known each other for years. Just so happens, she had a cancellation for Labor Day weekend. I couldn’t believe my ears! My husband and I were in dire need of some much needed r and r, and we definitely found it at the Purdy Cabin. If you’re needing to get away from the 'rat race' and recharge your batteries, we highly recommend this cabin. It’s secluded, but Tahlequah, a college town, is just a very short drive if you need something. The 30 minute drive to Lake Tenkiller is very scenic, and the lake is beautiful. Beth is very helpful and the warm decor of the home with family pictures, books and antiques makes you feel like you're part of the Purdy family. The kitchen windows overlook the deck and the Illinois River, allowing your mind to clear while cooking or doing dishes, if you so choose to do in the fully stocked kitchen. Sitting on the deck puts you in the midst of peace and tranquility, listening to the wind blow through the trees and watching the different species of birds and the squirrels as they play and claim their territory. Or, if you prefer, curl up on the sofa with a book you brought or enjoy one of the many books on the shelf. We spent our time sleeping, eating, and sleeping some more on the most comfy beds. We did make time for sight seeing. but were always able to find our way back to our little weekend piece of heaven. We have already talked to friends, and if possible, will return in the fall to enjoy the beautiful colors of the foliage. Thanks Beth for sharing your little piece of the river.

I stayed here with a group of my friends for the weekend. We had an awesome and very relaxing time! The cabin is very clean and spacious... The pictures really don't do it any justice at all! The back deck is amazing! You can literally see all kinds of fish swimming around in the river right from the deck! We will definatly use this cabin again, and recommend it to anybody looking for a relaxing, comfortable home away from home.

From Toy on 06/27/13

Stayed at Purdy Cabin 3 days this last May with bro-n-law & sis-n-law. We had a very relaxing time. Plenty of rooms and areas to cozy up & read, watch birds or count fish from the back deck. Beautiful memories have been made at this home and you can feel them. We felt like kids away at camp. Besides all the outdoor activities could do in area, the collection of books is incredible, also movies and a big room where kids or teens could hang out away from adults if they want. Slept great, bed so comfy. Thank you Purdy family for letting create our memories at your Cabin.

From Kat on 04/13/13

I have rented this cabin twice while visiting with family in the area. It quickly became a home away from home for us. The setting on the river is gorgeous, the kitchen is completely set up, and the Purdy family went way beyond my expectations with their helpfulness.

From TravelOK.com Staff on 04/01/13

Do you allow pets and what is the price of the cabin. It sounds wonderful. I want to come there and see the beautiful countryside on our way to Branson. Also check out if I can find out more about my Cherokee family.

From Roy on 05/15/11

The cabin was much more than we had hoped for. It is warmly decorated and well equiped with board games, movies, linens and kitchen supplies. We had a wonderful time enjoying nature and exploring near by Tahlequah.

From Kay Morris on 03/20/11

The cabin is hardly a cabin...more like a clean, comfy, well-equipted and spacious home! The cabin was convenient to town but sitting on the deck, sipping coffee and looking at the river feels like a remote getaway. We had a great family reunion and the Purdy Cabin was a big part of making it so much fun.

From Anita on 06/07/10

Great place to stay with family and friends. Enjoyed the time together playing board games, cards or just sitting on the balcony watching the wildlife and visiting. My entire family agreed this is the best place we have stayed in the last 12 years of coming to this area.

From Ruthie on 05/03/10

This place is exactly what we were looking for in a weekend vacation. We spent time exploring the nearby towns and after a day on the river, it was nice to feel like we had a home to go to instead of a tent or cramped rental cabin. We will be back soon!
