Description

Founded in 2001, Eufaula Area Arts Council, Inc. is a 501c 3 not for profit educational charity and at the same time is an organization promoting all the arts in the area.

Eufaula Area Arts began during the early 1990s when local artists began offering summer art classes available to the public.  Much has changed since the '90s, but the tradition of providing arts to the community at large has been continuous.  Since 1994, Eufaula Area Arts has provided summer arts activities for children, teens and adults with support from the Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, City of Eufaula, local businesses and individuals.

The Eufaula Area Arts is headquartered at 105 South Main at Eufaula Main Street Studio. This studio is a working artist studio.  Some classes are held here and there is a tiny gallery in the front where eighty percent of all sales go back to member artists.  Anyone can display their art in this gallery. This studio acts as a gateway to the arts and exists as an educational outreach headquarters for Eufaula and surrounding area.

Programs Eufaula Area Arts has sponsored in the last 20 years at several different sites in town are too numerous to mention but a few are theater productions, video classes, many concerts, several art walk festivals, adult lake art classes, youth shelter classes, library programs, school programs, guitar classes, juggling workshops, puppet shows, paper making classes, dancing classes, book binding classes, Halloween activities and flute making.

Eufaula is ground zero in the summer due to its close proximity to the largest lake in Oklahoma, Lake Eufaula. The city of Eufaula is surrounded by lake water on three sides of the city limits.  Eufaula has a total area of 6.6 square land miles and 3.0 square water miles. Lake Eufaula has 625 miles of shoreline. Lake tourism is the main industry in this area. Eufaula Area Arts Council, Inc. means to compliment this industry.

Nudging this community to realize the importance of the arts to this area has helped to produce successful creative businesses on and near Main Street plus several organizations emphasizing imaginative projects. The arts are a win-win for everyone.  Without the many partners in the arts Eufaula Area Arts Council, Inc. would not be what it is today.
