Enjoy sand drag racing at Little Sahara State Park, as well as other special events including a duck race and free hot dogs, at this year's SandFest in Waynoka. Held annually the second weekend after Labor Day, this exciting event invites you to bring your ATV and participate in a variety of off-road events across the sand dunes, or admire drag racing and trick ATV demonstrations from the sidelines. SandFest will also include a poker run and duck races along Dog Creek. In addition, food vendors will be present throughout the day and ATV dealers will be bringing in new models.
Waynoka's SandFest guarantees fun for all ages as sections of Main Street will be blocked off in order to build a giant sandbox for the kids. Bring the little ones and show them how to build a sand castle and enter your creation in the festival's sand castle contest. Also, SandFest will once again play host to the event's popular hot dog contest. Bring your own grill and toppings and compete for SandFest's best hot dog. The "working dog" category requires five toppings or less, while the "top dog" encourages an "anything goes" attitude.
The hot dog cook-off will be followed by an old-fashioned food fair, where participants enter their best baked and canned goods in hopes of winning the top prize. Stick around to see which tiny tot will win the crown of Miss & Little Miss SandFest, and don't miss the hilarious lawn mower races that take place in the evening. Watch as contestants on lawn mowers attempt to make their way through a challenging obstacle course while enjoying tasty concessions at this year's SandFest.
