The Northeastern State University Jazz Lab is home to the Jazz Studies Program, which has grown to include several small groups as well as two large jazz ensembles. Under the direction of saxophonist Dr. Tommy Poole, students and visitors have been treated to performances by several well-known jazz musicians like Diana Krall, Joe Lovano and Ray Brown. The NSU Jazz Lab is located in downtown Tahlequah in a brick, two-story building designed to mimic the New Orleans' French Quarter.
