Autumnal Equinox Walks
18154 1st St
Spiro, OK 74959
These special guided tours are offered at Oklahoma's only prehistoric Native American archaeological site open to the public. Each Autumnal Equinox Walk tour will be one mile of easy walking and about two hours in duration. Archaeologist Dennis Peterson will discuss the powerful Caddoans who created the mounds between 900 and 1450 A.D., how they became a very important leadership group and why some of the twelve mounds line up for the solstice and equinox sunsets. The Autumnal Equinox Walks give an educational insight into Oklahoma's prehistoric people.
