The Western Hills Winter Bluegrass Festival, held on the grounds of the beautiful Lodge at Sequoyah State Park, will feature top bands from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Colorado and Missouri. Bring your favorite instrument and participate in jam sessions held in the hotel lobby. A variety of musical workshops will also be held throughout the festival, so get your ticket or a three-day pass and brush up on your bluegrass skills. Workshops will be held on instruments such as the five-string banjo, flattop guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro and bass.

Workshops on all bluegrass stringed instruments will be held Friday afternoon.  Visitors must have a ticket to participate in all events.  Stick around each night after the concerts are over for all night jam sessions.  All activities are held indoors, so this event will be held rain or shine.

We were last there in the late '80s. So pleased this event falls on my 3 day weekend this year! We'll be there tomorrow. Will miss Fred.

Karen: I'm very happy you were able to attend the 2014 festival. The 2015 will be every bit as good and would welcome having you come again. The dates for 2015 are Feb. 12,13,14. Dates for 2016 will move back to January on the 3rd 'full' weekend (meaning it is the first weekend that that includes the 3rd Thursday), thus the dates are Jan. 21.22.23, 2016. This is our 36th year. Hope to see you there.

TO: Ivandalsem: It is not usual to see a hammered dulcimer at this festival - you will see and hear lots of acoustic guitars, upright bass, fiddle, 5-string banjo, mandolin and some dobro.

Will any hammered dulcimers be there?

From Wilda Thomas on 10/12/14

The 2015 festival dates for 2015 have moved to Feb. 12-14 because Sequoyah Lodge is being renovated. Date moves back to 3rd weekend in Jan. in 2016.

Last year January 2013 was my first time ever going to the Western Hills Winter Bluegrass Festival, and it was one of the most amazing times I've ever had. I even met some new friends.
