Valliant Watermelon Festival   - Jul 26, 2013 to Jul 27, 2013

The annual Watermelon Festival in Valliant, located in southeast Oklahoma, kicks off Friday evening with a parade through town at 6pm, led by various car show entries, and a gospel music concert in the local city park at 7pm. The fun continues early Saturday morning with a sanctioned 5K run, a kids' fun run for children ages 10 and under and a car show. Watermelon Festival contests include turtle races, a dachshund dash, watermelon-eating contest, seed spitting and weigh-off, a spelling bee, horseshoe tournament and softball tournament, as well as a photography and quilt show. Food and craft vendors will offer something for everyone. Visitors to this event are also invited to participate in the street dance at 8pm that closes out the Valliant Watermelon Festival.
