Oklahoma Steam Threshing & Gas Engine Show
May 05, 2017 to May 07, 2017
401 E Beck Dr
Step back in time at the 50th Annual Oklahoma Steam Threshing and Gas Engine Association Show. This year, check out the featured 20-Horsepower Keck Gonnerman steam engine. Breaking from the tradition of naming a brand of gas tractor, the 2017 event will feature all steel wheel tractors. As a result, most of the featured tractors will be pre-1930, offering an exciting glimpse into the past at this annual Pawnee event.
As always, there will be 15 to 20 steam traction engines (steam tractors) operating various era-correct machines. Come marvel at the steam-powered saw mill that operates almost nonstop during show hours. This exhibit is complemented by a cedar shingle-cutting machine, a wood shop planer and other assorted timber and lumber-related machines. You'll definitely want to stop by the blacksmith shop, where tools and household items are forged by hand from raw steel.
Be sure to swing by the 1900s machine shop, illustrating how machines similar to today's were powered by steam engines. A flea market, arts and crafts area and a hobby-related swap meet area is also located on-site. In the evening hours, enjoy a dramatic spark show, featuring steam engines blowing burning cinders 50 to 60 feet into the air. There is always a free cornbread and bean supper for vendors and exhibitors on Thursday evening.
Camping (for exhibitors) is available on the grounds. Hookups are $10 per night for water and electric and $5 for primitive. There is a dump station on the grounds. Non-exhibitor camping is available a short distance away at Pawnee Lake, also for a fee. Note that 50 amp hookups are available only at the lake.
This event will be held rain or shine, and there are plenty of indoor exhibitors.
