First Day Hike at Robbers Cave State Park
Mark your calendar for a visit to Robbers Cave State Park near Wilburton on January 1 for a free guided hike. Meet at Community Room #1 at 9am for an easy hike along the 1-mile Outdoor Classroom Trail, or choose a moderate to strenuous 2-hour hike along the three-mile Mountain Trail. Be sure to bring your binoculars, a camera, water and appropriate dress for a cool weather hike for maximum enjoyment, and prep beforehand with hot chocolate, coffee, water, black-eyed peas and trail mix. There will also be a drawing for a free hiking stick with a Robbers Cave hiking medallion. The drawing is open for First Day Hike participants only.
This event is in conjunction with the America's State Parks First Day Hikes initiative that will take place in all 50 states. The First Day Hikes offer individuals and families an opportunity to begin the New Year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors by taking a healthy hike on the first day of the new year.
Note: Children must be carefully supervised along the Mountain Trail due to high elevation and cliffs.
