Travel back in time and take a look into the past while attending the Coweta Mission Civil War Weekend & Re-Enactment. Return to the year 1864 as former Union and Confederate forces inside Indian Territory are on the move. As the Confederates plan to capture tiny Fort Wayne near the Arkansas border, will the Union forces protect their position or will the Confederates succeed in their mission? Come to the Coweta Mission Civil War Weekend & Re-Enactment and find out, but be careful. Passwords may be required to move safely through the camps unchallenged. Also take the time to check out the Coweta Mission camp of mountain men.

The weekend will include realistic school rooms, a medical hospital, an infantry camp and living history tours. During the main event, the Civil War Re-enactment, watch as 50-75 infantry members engage in a full-scale battle with true-to-life artillery weapons, including Civil War-era cannons. Following the re-enactment, head to the Civil War-period dance, where you can kick up your heels to the music of a simpler time. Refreshments from on-site food vendors and Civil War-period settlers and traders will be available, and the Civil War museum on the grounds will be open throughout the weekend.
