From Mike Schuman on 03/23/2014

I have patronized this neighborhood bar since moving to downtown in early 1992. At that time it was half the size it is today and was a true hole in the wall dive. After the building survived an electrical fire in a storage room closet during the mid 90s, the owners at that time poured their hearts into remodeling and doubling the size with an adjoining old bar next door that was being used as storage at the time. After 15 years or so the bar deteriorated back to the hole in the wall it once was. During the past 2 years though, the new owner, Larry, has turned this place around. It's not just a beer bar anymore. Mixed drinks and music entertainment are provided nightly. Smoking is permitted only in the closed-in smoking booth or on the newly added patio on the east side of the building. Recently a few months ago he opened the grill. The majority of the menu items fall into the homemade comfort food category which works for me. The food is very good, not pricey, and the bar and grill staff are all very polite and accommodating to the customers. The owner pops in on occasions and faithfully makes his rounds of greeting his customers and thanking them for coming in, I wish the very best for Larry and his new business. This neighborhood has needed this for a long time.
