For five days, the town of Hennessey celebrates its founding and history during the Pat Hennessy Day Celebration. Pat Hennessy was a Irish immigrant and Union soldier during the Civil War that the town was named after. The festival is packed full of contests, entertainment, games, food and much more.

There is something for everyone in the entire family. The fun begins with the Kute Kiddie Contest and continues the next day with an old fashioned cookout where you can kick back and enjoy ribs and the sounds of live inspirational gospel music. There is also a two day, action packed rodeo where you can get in touch with your inner cowboy.

Saturday kicks off with a parade and chuck wagon breakfast. Kids will love the stop and go races, turtle races, frog races and petting zoo. The day also includes a tug of war contest, salsa making contest, jalapeno eating contest, pie eating contest and much more. Browse through the farm, oil and equipment show and relieve some stress at the sledge hammer car smash. The festivities wrap up on Sunday with the Pat Hennessy Massacre Pageant Reenactment.
