Located inside the Rudisill Regional Library the Tulsa City-County African-American Resource Center has an extensive collection of materials documenting the lives and history of African Americans in Oklahoma and the United States. Tours are available with advanced notice.

Resources here include chronicles, encyclopedias, bibliographies and the Five Civilized Tribes rolls. Watch video productions about a wide variety of subjects pertaining to the history and culture of African Americans or listen to music performed by Black artists.

Rotating exhibits put together by locals are also a great source of information. In the past, exhibits such as "400 Years Without a Comb," "Harlem Renaissance" and "Portraits of Historic African-American Leaders" have covered many different topics. There is also a complete electronic database for extensive research and materials for teachers.

The African-American Resource Center welcomes authors and book discussions throughout the years and sponsors a variety of programs. A tour of Oklahoma's historic all-black towns, program about Martin Luther King Jr. Day and several events during Black History Month mean there's always an opportunity to learn more.
