Head to OKC’s Paseo District as Oklahoma Shakespeare brings Howard Barker’s “Scenes from an Execution” to their home stage.

Set in 16th century Venice, this tale explores the space between artistic freedom, tracing the fallout when a painter followers her creative conscience and autonomy against her wealthy patron’s demands and expectations.

Since 1985, this non-profit troupe has been bringing to life the works of master playwrights like William Shakespeare, building a following and garnering a reputation as one of Oklahoma’s most treasured cultural assets. Although headquartered for several years at Hafer Park and UCO in Edmond, several fires and floods forced the company to relocate to central Oklahoma City where the summer season is now performed at either the Myriad Botanical Gardens Water Stage or in the Paseo District.

Primarily known for their summer series, Oklahoma Shakespeare also actively produces plays and stage readings year round all over the Oklahoma City metro.
