The Alva Mural Society commissioned Robbie Pierce and Jack Koonce to paint this “Train Depot” mural in 2003. This mural memorializes Alva’s Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railway station, which shuttled townspeople in and out between 1908-1983. Although the original train station building no longer stands, Alva still lies along main railway routes, albeit now through the Burlington Southern Santa Fe station.
