This Memorial Day, gather up the whole crew and head to Lake Eufaula State Park for a myriad of fun, family-friendly activities peppered throughout the weekend.

From crafts to hikes and even a movie, kick off summer with four days jam-packed with educational fun at Lake Eufaula.

Here’s a breakdown of each day’s activities:

Friday, May 27th

10am - Gourd Bird House – Since they’re already hollow, gourds are a natural fit for bird houses.  Camp counselors will precut the bird holes and then participants get creative in painting it.  There is a $5 materials fee for this project.

1pm – Scavenger Hunt - How are your nature skills?  Put them to the test on this scavenger hunt.

7:3opm - Twilight Hike – Hike the Crazy Snake Trail just before dark, when nocturnal animals are just beginning to stir.  The sun sets today at 8:30pm, so rendezvous at the Nature Center at 7:45pm for a pre-hike marshmallow roast. There is a $3 fee for this activity.

Saturday, May 28th

10am – Minnow Races – The hardest part is getting a saddle on them.

1pm – Key-keepers – Participants hand create this practical and fun key holder to keep or give as a special gift.   There is $2 materials fee for this project.

Sunday, May 29th

10am – Rocket Science – Learn what it takes to make rockets fly. A hint, lots of pressure.

1pm – Water Bottle – Create your own water bottle to use over and over again.  Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  There is a $2 materials fee for this craft.

2pm – Shake & Make Ice Cream – What’s summer without ice cream? Learn how it’s done by making your own-and enjoying the fruits of those labors. There is a $1 materials fee for this activity.

After Dark – Movie Night – At dusk, head to the Deep Fork Amphitheater in the Deep Fork Campground and watch a movie out in nature.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Popcorn will be available from the Friends of Lake Eufaula State Park for $1 a bag.

Monday, May 30th

10am - Pollinators, Are They Important to You? – At this informative lecture in nature, learn about the plight of the Monarch Butterfly and its importance in protecting our natural resources. Take home a packet of milkweed seeds to plant at home and help the cause.

1pm – Watchable Wildlife – Come to the nature center and enjoy all the beautiful flowers and animals that feed off the flowers and plants.
