Description

There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in Tulsa, but El Rancho Grande stands out as one of the oldest. Open since the 1950s, El Rancho Grande upholds its strong reputation of serving excellent Mexican food in a fun atmosphere. The restaurant offered the first taste of Tex Mex for many Route 66 travelers when it first opened. Today, El Rancho Grande continues to serve the same authentic flavors of Mexico in a modern and entertaining dining room. If the cheery Mexican lanterns hanging inside and the brightly colored tables don't perk your mood, a taste of fresh chips and salsa should do the trick. Start off with a classic appetizer like chunky guacamole or queso flameado and prepare to be impressed by authentic south-of-the-border flavors.

The Night Hawk Special served at El Rancho Grande has been named one of the five greatest Mexican meals in the nation in the book Taco USA: How Mexican Food Conquered America. The dish consists of two cheese and onion enchiladas topped with chili con carne and cheese with one soft cheddar cheese taco smothered in chili con queso. While the Night Hawk Special is popular, the menu at El Rancho Grande is expansive. Mexican favorites like enchiladas, tacos, burritos, tostadas and tamales pop up in a variety of combinations to make complete Mexican meals.

Great food and drinks on the mother road route 66 .

Best Tex-Mex in Tulsa. The famous Night Hawk combo is my husband's favorite and the chicken enchiladas are mine. Sweet staff and great prices. Love the historic neon sign and Route 66 location.

The worst Mexican food I have ever had. When we complained they just stood there and looked at me while the watress hid in the back until we left. Will never go there again.
