Muskogee was thrust onto the world stage when country music star Merle Haggard recorded the hit song “Okie from Muskogee,” an ode to “livin’ right and bein’ free.”  Nearly 40 years later, spending time in Muskogee is still about living right in a classic, free and easy western atmosphere.  Muskogee is rich in Native American heritage, allowing you to experience the culture at the Five Civilized Tribes Museum. Tour a World War II dry-docked submarine, catch a race at the Outlaw Motor Speedway, or stop to smell the flowers during the Azalea Festival at Honor Heights Park. Step back in time at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival or soak up some outdoor fun at the Three Forks Harbor on the Arkansas River or one of the three nearby lakes.
