Heavener is home to the Viking Runestone and is the mountain gateway to the Talimena drive. The Kerr Historical Museum, Wister State Park, Cedar Lake and the Peter Conser House are all within easy driving distance. The Heavener Chamber of Commerce sponsor events such as an annual ATV Rodeo, Mountain Gateway Festival, fireworks display, various rodeos and an arts and crafts festival each year.
