I tried contacting you all directly but got no response. I stayed there in April for two nights but did not get much sleep. There were four cockroaches in or near my room. One was in my bathroom. It wasn't there when I checked in but was there later. It was disgusting. I would never pay money to stay there again even though the staff was very very nice. I don't stay in hotels with cockroaches.
Lake Murray has always been my fave place to visit. I have always gone there until last year, my step-mom have forbidden us to go there anymore. I miss it there.
Joann, there are plans to redo the lodge in the future, but the project has not been started yet. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Justin, you can rent a canoe or small boat at Lake Murray Water Sports, or you can rent a larger pontoon boat at the Lake Murray Marina. You can see more information about these properties underneath 'Related Listings' on the top right side of the page. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Has the lodge been redone yet?
I went to Lake Murray for the first time this past weekend. I was very pleased with just about everything. This tent sites were clean, the water was clear, fishing was pretty good, the hiking was good, etc. We had an awesome time there and plan on going every chance we get. The best thing is that it was peaceful. The rangers don't put up with rowdy campers so if you're looking to go party and raise a ruckus then this is not the place to go. It's very family oriented. Good job to everybody involved with the upkeep of this wonderful place!
Im planning on honeymooning at lake murray... can anyone tell me where i could rent a canoe or small boat to go fishing while im there? i
Graciela, while you're at Lake Murray you could go hiking on the trail system, horseback riding from the on-site stables or play a round of mini golf. You'll find information on this under 'See Related Listings' on the top right side of this page. Have a great trip and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Our family is planning to come to Lake Murray to camp out, Memoral Day weekend, this will be our families first time. My family is 2 adults and 4 kids, ages 1 to 16. Can you make any suggestions?
Linda, yes, Tucker Tower is finished with the renovations and is open to the public. Have a great trip and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Rach, as of right now there is no way to reserve a tent or RV site at Lake Murray State Park. The Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department is currently working with other state agencies and their contractors to put a reservation system in place for Oklahoma state parks, and we're looking forward to a release date this year. Until then the 323 RV sites and 500 tent sites are available on a first come, first serve basis. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Has Tucker Tower opened back up?
we are planning a trip for memorial day weekend. Do you guys take reservations? we live in OKC and would hate to get all the way down there without a camp site.
Kyle, there are a total of eight full hookup sites at the Martin's Landing campground, seven of which are pull-thru sites. If that campground is full, there are another 114 full hookup sites located throughout the state park. Unfortunately all campsites are available on a first come, first serve basis. You can call the park at 580-223-4044 before you head out and they may be able to give you an idea of what is available. Happy camping and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
There are two of us going to martins landing on lake murry. I have a 40ft 5th wheel with 3 pop outs. can I make a reservation and are these sites full hook up. Please let me know as soon as possible I plan on being there thurs night through monday.
Kristi, since our online booking system will not let you specify your cabin location, your best bet would be to call the Lake Murray State Park staff directly at 580-223-6600, and they will be more than happy to help you. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
I am looking for cabind to rent for a family vacation. Do you have any near the water tor ent for a few days?
Michael, the Lake Murray State Park ATV area includes 1,000 acres and 10 miles of trails. For more information, please contact Lake Murray State Park at 580-223-4044. Thank you for using TravelOK.com!

I was told about lake murray several years ago and have been there many times with my family & they loved it,always a good time, very relaxing, have stayed in the cabins & lodge as well, everyone there very helpful & friendly, looking forward to next vacation there...hopefully soon
I have been going to Lake Murray off and on for almost 40 years. I have camped in a tent, travel trailer, and stayed in a cabin. The cabins are on the rustic side but very acceptable for a lake and what do you expect at a lake. I have fished, hiked, water skied, and been scuba diving there. I have always found it a good place to be. I have not stayed in the lodge but from what I have seen it looks nice. I have been there with my family, also alone and with a bunch of guys. We have always had good clean fun with no trouble.
Robin, congratulations on your upcoming wedding! For information about holding a wedding at Lake Murray State Park please call 580-223-4044. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
This is a beautiful park. I was wondering if a wedding could be held here on July 21, 2013?
Awesome week just finished at Lake Murray. Tent camped at Rock Tower campground and couldnt have enjoyed it more. The camp host was awesome and our kiddos had a ball. Definitely will be back.

Is it possible to reserve tent sites on spring break week? If so, is there a map on which to view open spots?
Myra, yes boats and jet skis are allowed on Lake Murray. Have a great trip and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
can you take your own water boats/jet skies?
Jerry, in Oklahoma State Parks consumption of beverages with a 3.2% alcohol content or less is permissible by those visitors who meet the legal drinking age of 21. If you have any questions, please call 580-223-4044. Thank you for using TravelOK.com!
can you bring coolers with beer if you rented a multi-person cabin?
This is one of our favorite family vacation spots. We're coming for our fourth trip next month. Thanks for having such a family friendly beautiful park!
What is a illgal character? Guess if you give poor rating they make it illegal. We had to wait three hours for the cabin past the posted time, was told every excuse form short staff to wrong time posted on web page.
Stephanie, we're so glad that you have enjoyed Lake Murray State Park! With regard to your question about the cabins, all of the cabins that are west of the current lodge to Scenic Hwy 77 intersection will remain. The cabins that were south of the lodge have been removed. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
We've been there several times, each time staying in the exact same cabin. We like it okay. It's small, but it's all we need for two people and a small dog. If we'd change anything, we'd have them make the bathroom just a tad wider because when you open the door, it hits the bathroom sink. Also, the window unit in the main area doesn't cool or heat the bathroom or the kitchen. This is a problem only in the coldest part of winter and, to us, from May to early October. Another thing. Future cabin renters may want to experiment with the stove because I like to do some baking but the oven dial numbers were completely rubbed off. I discovered that if you turn it on and turn the dial clockwise until the line on the knob is three quarters turn, or one quarter turn from the top, this will affect about a three seventy five degree oven temp. I say this cuz the other cabins may have the same issue. Note. A lady who worked for the lodge told me that when they build a new lodge down the road, they would be getting rid of the cabins and wouldn't be building any new ones. I was concerned because we enjoyed coming with our pet and noticed that many other cabins were filled with patrons with pets. I brought this up with one of the other employees, and she insisted that, no, these cabins will remain. They'll be remodeled since they're older, but they'll still be available to all those who enjoy them. If someone else could verify this as well, we'd appreciate it. Thanks.
We met family there over Thanksgiving weekend and spent the day at one of the parks on the lake, which was a fun time. We enjoyed a nice hike and a picnic lunch. We also drove and looked at all the tent camping sites, thinking it would be nice to camp in the future. If you're used to a typical tent camping site - spacious to give you distance between the other campers, with a picnic table, fire ring, and trees and shrubs between you and the next campsite, this is not what you're going to get. The RV sites have more vegetation than do the tent sites, which seems odd. The tent sites look like a day use area at a typical lake - each spot has a picnic table placed fairly close to the next picnic table on a lawn. There is absolutely no privacy and the spots are way too close together. My thought was the people who designed these aren't tent campers and have never visited any parks or campgrounds with real tent camp sites. Hopefully some day they'll plant some shrubs and trees between the tent camp sites and give each spot more space.
Rented a cabin this weekend. overall experience was good. The park is beautiful. When I made the reservations the staff were quite helpful. In person, they were not. We were told over the phone check-in was 3p.m. When we arrived at 3 p.m. we were told that they only guaranteed check-in at 6 p.m. The cabin was ready at 4 p.m. The cabins are older but still liveable and clean. I was origininally disappointed but ended up liking the place ok. Our only other experience with state park loding was with a new state park in Louisiana so the comparison is unfair. We plan to go again so I guess it all worked out. I would agree with many others in that the staff is the weak link.
We love Lake Murray! We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. It is a great place to go hiking. We always go in winter or early spring when it is not too crowded and most of the activities are closed, but it makes for a quiet getaway. There is also a lot do in surrounding areas. We are looking forward to another visit in December.
Rented Cabins here twice in the last 4 weeks, love it there, the color change in that area in the fall is amazing. Chris works the desk at the lodge and he is so outgoing and helpful unlike the girl who works there during the day. I recommend this place for a great family getaway.
I love Lake Murry!!!! Great place.I just wish the people were friendlyer!!Overall a great place. Ilove horseback riding!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cabin stay was good, however don't even bother renting any type of water sports from the boat rental place. They are rude and claim that its state regulated, but they make up their own rules. They are not friendly folks and will not work with you even if the lake is empty and all their boats are docked. If you give them any business, your vacation will be ruined. If you rent, take atleast 50 pics of jet skies and boats from every angle, otherwise they will find a way to charge some money on your credit card.
Our family spend the last week end here. Overall it was a good experience. The boat rental staff are not friendly. We end up not renting.
ATVers. We had a blast at the ATV grounds here. Many different terrain levels - then when you get hot, drive up to the shore and jump, or drive, in. Really nice trails - some in the trees, some in the sand, some ravines. Lots of fun and variety. Thanks Lake Murray.
Stayed two days at Lake Murray. Cabins and campgrounds were okay. Had terrible experience at the boat rental place. These people were rude and acted like we were criminals! Don't rent boat or jet ski from this place. Find another place or you are better off doing something else.
Went to lake murray lst week. The cabins are alrite. I have seen much better places. The boat rental company is the one you have to be carefull about. They have scratches on all their jet skis and they will say that you have scratched their jet ski and will charge you 200 dollars for a scratch. Its a rip off. I dont think thats what you want to deal with when you are having a vaction. They will charge you an arm and a leg for that
We went to lake Murray for a weak end get away, last week. The cabins were mediocre not all that clean but was manageable. The boat rental experience was horrible. While we were in the middle of the lake, the jet sky that was pulling the boat, sucked in the rope that was hanging from the boat, the jet sky was still running but slow. When we returned the boat, somehow the the rope being there end up as our fault. It looked like all you have to do is remove the rope from the shaft. They also came up with a scratch on the other jet sky we rented, it was a small scratch, that can be considered as part the regular wear and tear, I am not even sure we did that or it was there already . At first they came up with a hand written bill for about $1800.00, and when we asked for a invoice they came up with a parts list for $1400.00. When we ask for an explanation of the bill they threatened us to call the cops on us, like we were doing something criminal. I think that's how they make their money, ripping people off with their bullying tactics. Any way park experience was ok, but the lake experience was horrible and very expensive. we will not be going there anymore.
Cabins were ok but the boat rental place is horrible, if you are planning on renting jet skie, please make sure you count the number of scratches or take a picture of it, else u r gona loose big bucks...Will never go back to this place.
We had a really horrible weekend. Cabin was ok but doesn't have any lake view. If you are planning to rent a boat, try to find another lake/boat rental place. Our experience was horrible and would never go back to that place.
This is supposed to be a fun place. But unfortunately with the cabins that had not been cleaned for years and the rude employees at boat rental company, it make a bizarre experience. To those of you considering renting boats or watersports, please don't do it. You will experience a really bad customer service from the owner/operator of Lake Murray boat rentals.
Cabins are really old and you cannot get a good lake view from any of the cabins. You are at a wrong place if you are here for any water sports. The boat rental company sucks. It is privately owned and you get a horrible service. Please make sure you have insurance before renting boats or wave runners, otherwise it would cost you a fortune.

Nancy - Here are the phone numbers for booking a cabin or a room at the lodge -- 800-257-0322 or 580-223-6600 Thank you for visiting TravelOK.com!
would like to rent cabin or room in lodge this august. Could you give us contact number.
I love this place !!! We have visited this area for the past three years. We are from Dallas and I can't think of many lakes within a hundred mile radius that's much clearer than this one. The first year we visited this area to stay in some nearby cabins called River of Love. The owner told us about Lake Murray. The second year we rented an R.V and this year we have purchased a camper. We love the new full hook-up places. We hope you add more in the future. I can say I wish that some of the trash would be cleaned up around some of the less popular places. It's a shame how people treat this beautiful lake by trashing it. Over-all it's a wonderful place to bring the grand-children. They love the bike trails and new playground area. We will return. Mary & Jimmy D Dallas TX.
My family and I spent a day out on the beautiful lake today. We were told the lake was low this year. I noticed there were dry islands with shallow water buoys stuck on them but the actual shallow water areas were not marked at all. We ran our boat on rocks once because it was not marked. This was our only bad experience on the lake but made a tense day.
Lake Murray is a beautiful lake, but the delay on building the new lodge is taking a terrible toll on the park's reputation. The lodge appears to be understaffed, the building is going downhill fast. The restaurant was out of tea bags, and the fish buffet was inedible. The staff is friendly, but we won't go back there because it is just too sad to see the shape things are in. It used to be one of our favorite places, too. It's a very poor image for Oklahoma. I think all the congress people need to stay a couple of days there and GET THE PICTURE! they need emergency action. Call the TV show Restaurant AND Hotel Impossible! This great place should never have been allowed to go this far downhill.
My family and I spent a few days camping at Tipps Point .We had a blast. The scenery is great. We enjoyed staying minus one particular thing. All of the trash scattered about. I can truly understand some trash scattered, as this is a very popular spot. I did not expect the amount we encountered . Everywhere we went, there was at least two to three large trash bags full. I know this because we cleaned it up where we were . Some of the refuse we picked up had been there for quite a while . Is there any type of enforcement on this? As stated before, we love the area and plan to return soon. I am a nature enthusiast and love doing my part to keeping the great Oklahoma Ooutdoors GREAT.
Larry, please refer to the Lake Murray State Park guide found in the top right corner of this page. It is an extensive outline about the park that includes pricing, hours, etc. If you have other questions not answered by this guide, please call the experts at the park and they would be happy to assist you with making plans for an excellent adventure at Lake Murray State Park. Have a great time and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
we will be coming this week .can you please provide more information regarding the ATV area. we plan on boating and jet skiing but we will also be bringing our 4-wheelers. We are only intestered in trail riding not jumping and going fast . I would appreciate any additional information as to area , requirements such as flags , helmets etc along with fees hours etc. Thanks we look forward to having a great time at Lake Murray
Hi, I saw your comment and wanted to respond. Lake Murray Lodge has rooms and cabins, you may book those at 1 800 257 0322. Those are resort accommodations with AC. RV camping is about 1 miles from these. Here in the park, we rent Group Camps for large groups. The facilities are rustic and those cabins do not have AC. The camps are rented at our park office at 580 223 4044. If you could call us we could more easily explain your choices. Thanks, Carol Conrad, Park Manager
I am going to be planing my family reunion and was looking into this lake but i noticed for the group camping there is no A/C for the cabins!!! Is this true? I know the family members that would use the cabins are the ones that NEED the A/C. Also at these group places are there areas of the cabins and RV spots close. I couldnt find a good site map of any of these areas online. Thank you
JL, thank you for your comment and we have forwarded your concerns to park officials. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
I visited the ATV park recently and have to say I enjoyed myself. There are so many great trails and the campsites are spacious and reasonable. The 9am rule and no bikes after dark are perfect to allow us to rest. However, there was one thing that ruined it for us. The Guy that runs the gate. He was extremely rude. He speaks down to everyone and tells them to clean their campsite. I will not be back!
Darren and Mark, we appreciate your comments and understand your frustration. The Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department is currently working with other state agencies and their contractors to put a reservation system in place for Oklahoma State Parks. We're looking forward to an early 2013 release date. We appreciate your continued support of Oklahoma State Parks, like Lake Murray State Park and truly value your business.
Get a reservation system!! My next email goes to Governor Marry Fallin. I encourage all who feel this way to do the same.
The comment from Kristie below made me want to do a follow up to my earlier post. As an FYI, I just came back yesterday from a really nice weekend at Roaring River State Park in MO. Neat little park, if you like trout fishing. Great weather, quiet, peaceful, etc. Spent quite a bit of money, too. The best part of the whole thing? I MADE A RESERVATION ON LINE! Woo Hoo! Right down to the specific campsite! Worked like a charm. Apparently MO has no problem figuring this out, so why can't our state parks? You can easily review their system on the MO state parks website. You should check it out. In all seriousness though, who should I call or write to get a straight answer on why OK doesn't have this or a similar system? Feel free to email me at the email listed.
OMG ! here it is the Reservation System for Oklahoma State parks.get a 50 dollar tent and drive to Park on Sunday and wait fore some one leaving.then throw the tent down and pay for Sunday through Sunday even though you are not going to be out toll Friday.REDICULOUSE!!!!. That's how they revenue for seven days a week, and everyone else gets the Shaft!
We would love to come RVing at Lake Murray, but have the same issue as others - there is no reservation system. It is very difficult to drive pulling a camper to find all these tents in the RV spots. Is this a factor in keeping vacationers from coming to your lake? There needs to be some type of system in place that you can get a spot and not to allow your 'resident' campers to keep their RV there all year round, leaving for only a day or so. Murray is such a beautiful place - if you can ever get a spot to enjoy.
My daddy is a park ranger at Lake Murray. I visit him sometimes. It is a really good Park, I love it!
Leilony, camping at Oklahoma State Parks is first come, first served. We suggest that you call Lake Murray State Park at the phone number above to get details on camping with a group. They'd be happy to assist you and answer any questions that you may have. Have a safe and fun holiday and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
to make rental on cabins is a nightmare,we really enjoy the rustic setting of the place but we will not ever go again, because the front desk staff,if it wasnt for them it would be great and also they will not let you in the cabins until 3 or 6 pm but dont tell you that until you get there at ten oclock in the morning,so i guess they want you to go to ardmore and kill5 to 8 hrs driving around aimlessly until they say the cabin is ready, then when you go back sometimes they tell you its not vacant or its been rented, they need to get rid of the staff ,they wont ever get any money from us again, what a joke that isnt funny.
I have a question... if I want to go tent camping do I have to make reservation? more than 1 family
Regarding comment from Mark on 4/30/12. He is right. The explanation provided for lack of a reservation system is a joke. I live in Texas and many of our state parks reserve spots. You can't reserve a very specific site, just the type, so which one you get is first come first serve, but at least you're guaranteed a spot after you've packed, made the long trip, and taken vacation from work. Some of our non-State Parks even allow you to reserve a very specific numbered site. So it can't be that hard. I'll be traveling to Lake Murray to camp with my family and another family the first weekend of June. If we are unable to secure a spot due to lack of a reservation system, we will NEVER come back. It's the 21st century. It's the computer age. Get with the times.
David, there are many photos of cabins in the photo gallery in the top right corner of this page that may interest you. You can also find photos on the Lake Murray State Park booking website by clicking on the red link above. For more details about lake front cabins, please call or email the park using the contact information above. Enjoy your stay at Lake Murray State Park and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
Any pictures of the cabins that are at the park and are there any cabins on the water?
Brandi, for more information about cabin prices you can call the cabin reservations number listed above or click on the red link that says Booking Website and make online reservations. Lake Murray State Park is such a fun place for families to make memories and we hope you have a wonderful stay. Thank you for using TravelOK.com.
Me and my family want to find out pricing on cabins state park ardmore I've only been once four yrs ago but loved it thanks
I have to comment on the post from Jeremy on 10 24 2011, and the related response. I have the same issue. I live in OK, and will not visit a state park that is more than an hour or so away because I don't know for sure if there will be an available site at the destination park. The argument that it - is very difficult to make a reservation system for so many different types of sites - is ridiculous. TX has one, AR has one, NM has one, etc, etc. There are many reservation systems already available. Subscribe to one and get it set up. Then maybe I can start enjoying my own state, instead of travelling to the neighbor's for my vacations.
Jessica, thank you for the question and we have forwarded your request to our group coordinator at the park. You can expect to hear from her very soon. Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend with your family and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
Is there a way to veiw pictures of the cabins that are at the Group Camps that you have? We have a family reunion there every memorial day weekend and would like to see pics of Group camp 3 that we have reserved this year. Its been years since weve camped at #3
Adam, for the most accurate and up-to-date information about the park camping areas, we suggest you call or email the experts at the park. They would be happy to give you the information you need to plan your best camping trip ever. Happy camping and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
I have a question. There are primitive camp sites at Lake Murray between Marietta Landing and Group Camp 3 that were blocked off last year. My question is, are they still blocked off? If so, why? That is my favorite spot to camp there and if you can't camp there anymore I'd just as soon go elsewhere.
Chad, we're so glad that you're going to Lake Murray State Park for Spring Break! We would suggest that you give the park a call and speak to someone there about wireless and cell phone coverage in that area for the most accurate information. Best wishes, don't work too hard on your break and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
We are heading your way either tomorrow or Wednesday. curious of how busy tent camping is during spring break and also if there is wireless internet access available in the park? If no internet, how well does ATT wireless coverage fare in the park? Unfortunately, vacation doesnt start until Thursday, so comically enough my office will be in a tent the next few days.
Linda, if you haven't found the details that you're looking for by clicking on the red-colored Booking Website link above, please call the toll-free cabin reservations number listed above and the reservation staff would be happy to assist you with the details of your next stay at Lake Murray State Park. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
I just want info about various cabins at Lake Murray. We have 4 adults & 3 children 7 and under. Is there a simple way to look at all that are in that area & get prices? Thanks.
John, we apologize for any problems that you may have experienced with making a reservation at Lake Murray State Park. We've sent you an email to try and get more details so that we can make your experience better and hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for using TravelOK.com.
State Park was marvelous. several years ago. Your web site stinks...I can't get any information on the lodge or make a reservation.
Stay in the cabins, have campfires and ride your heart out. As far as trails and dirt bike riding area goes...it feels like about 1000 acres, smaller than red river motorcycle trails, the one near turtle hill golf course. but it doesn't feel much smaller. Definitely a plethora of trails. Plenty for a weekend, good for kids learning to ride also. You will rarely come upon a trail that you have to turn around or find another way due to difficulty, but it does happen. The atv and dirt bike trails are NOT at the cabin and state park lodge area. they are on the other side of the lake. you will be trailering or trucking there each day if you are not camping at the trail place itself.
First come, first serve is in place for a reason because with busy parks it is very difficult to make a reservation system for so many different types of sites. The reservation system our state parks use, mostly for cabins but at some parks they use if for RV sites, is very complex and adding in a way to reserve all sites, both tent and RV, is very difficult and can make it very stressful for office staff to keep dozens of reservations straight. Please be patient and always call ahead. Also remember, if this park is full there is always another park that has sites open. You'd be surprised to find new favorite places if you would venture off from your old favorite place!
I will not return until there is a reservation system. We drove in from out of state only to find all spots were full. Asked a patrolling ranger, and he pointed us to the last tent spot--next to 25-30 preteens with no adults who screamed till 3AM. And I did follow the weak instructions of the office to call the morning we leave. They guessed there would be campsites. But they can guess wrong. I still have to take vacation from work. I still have to pack and drive to the park. And then wonder if I have to take my family to a hotel I can't really afford. Terrible, terrible, get a reservation system like everyone else. I would gladly pay more!!!!
Ridiculous...first-come/first-serve is the most antiquated and stupid way of making reservations...you can't!
Nice lake, been there twice, but I agree with Earny and Karen. I don't see why the OK State Parks cannot at least turn this over to Reserve America or Recreation.Gov., since they have no interest in building their own website to book reservations. I am not going to drive 2 hours North again from the Metroplex in my Motorhome that gets 6-7 MPG at best only to roll the dice when I get there and maybe get a spot I can fit into. when all the larger sites are taken by tents with nobody in them. I guess, I will just have to keep visiting the COE parks in TX. Out of state visitors cannot compete with the locals for campsites, but I guess we can spend our money elsewhere.
Love to camp there when you can get a spot. They take up the RV spots with tents so it presents a problem when you drive 2-3 hours only to find all the RV spots have a bunch of tents in them.
Just want to say, my family has been having our family reunion at Lake Murray for 30+ consecutive years. As well as several years before that. Love it always have a Great time..we sometimes have up to 50 campers, we just camp a little clpser. Looking foreward to another year of tradition.
David OKC, if you'll call or email the park office directly the experts there would be happy to help you with lake information. Lake Murray is such a great place for water fun! Safe snorkeling to you and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
can you tell me what the water is like now? temp and how clear it is? we are intersted in snokeling
Julie, please email or call the park directly and they'd be happy to direct you to the perfect place for your getaway. Enjoy Lake Murray State Park and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
We are coming to Lake Murray the 3rd week of July for several days in a 38ft. motorhome and was wondering which park would be good to camp if we wanted to be right on the water. Also close to rentals for canoes, etc. Thank you
Beth, please call or email the park directly for more information about ATV areas and park rules. We're sure they'd be happy to assist you. Have a fun fourth and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
first of all let me say we look Lake Murray but I was owndering about The Fourth of July we always camp in the Atv are but we woould like to stay near water for a change but unlaodinh and loading atv 2 times a day doesnt sound fun can we just lock them up over against the metal fence were you park in the atv area and camp near water on the otherside of lake or do you have to stay in the atv area
Great lake to camp at, IF you can even find a spot. It seems that now all the people that get the good spots are taking tents and paying for the spots under another person's name and not even camping there, but just saving their spot. That sure limits anyone else from even getting a spot, and forget camping on the water. Reservations for water spots should be started up to allow EVERYONE a chance to camp at a water spot.
Jason, as a general rule all camping is first come, first served in Oklahoma State Parks. You might want to call the park directly for more details since every park has a little bit of a different routine. In regards to the 4th, it's probably never a bad idea to go early to find the best spot for yourself. Have a great time at Lake Murray and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
Are the rv spots still first come first serve? Thinking of coming up for the 4th and need to know if I need to come up early next week.
Jennifer, please call the park directly or email them using the link above and they'd be happy to help you with ATV information. Have a great time in south central Oklahoma and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
How many miles or acres are available for ATV trails around Lake Murray State Park?
Dave, a kitchenette contains a 2 burner stove, refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. There is also a grill located outside of each cabin. Enjoy your visit to Lake Murray.
Tyler, because every park is just a little bit different, we would suggest that you call the park office at 580-223-4044 to verify age requirements of tent camping. You can also contact the park by e-mail by clicking on the red e-mail link above. Have a great time at Lake Murray and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
We reserved a cabin with a kitchenette. Excuse my ignorance on the matter but what does this consist of? Is there an oven?
What is the age limit for childrens tents?
Family Members have been going to Lake Murray sinse it open in the 30's. One generation always tells the next. It is a beautiful lake and area. We have always had a great time there and my family loves the cabins. The staff has always been friendly, helpful and just wonderful people. It is our belief that Lake Murray has better accomidations than a 5 star hotel.
Camille, I'm sorry that you didn't find the information that you needed. We have uploaded a new file that has state park frequently asked questions and you can find that in the top right hand corner of this page. If you still have camping questions, please feel free to call the park directly or use the email link above to contact the staff. Have a great time at Lake Murray State Park and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
We spent an hour this morning trying to find camping info for lake murray. Why don't you have that info on your site?
Spent the weekend in one of the cabins with family and friends for a group b-day weekend. We had a great time, the cabin was nice and clean. The area around our cabin was great for the kids to hike around and play. The swimming area was so much fun. All in all we had a great time and are planning a new trip to Lake Murray soon.
Booked 4 25 thru 4 27 2011 With lake view. Anniversary, Nice two day get away. Windows covered with dirt & oversprayed paint, no view. had no hot water. Given a key to another room different wing to shower. No tub with shower, just a small 2 and a half foot square shower. not the best anniversary we've ever had.
wish they would open all the cabins!!! its beautiful there. an so clean, stafff freindly an helpful!
Lake murray is really fun. I spend most of my summer there with my family and friends. We always have a good time and comeback every weekend.
Lake Murray is one of the most beautiful camping sites! The campground is well maintained with nice bathrooms. We always have a great time when we visit.
Come visit Lake Murray State Park for water fun, camping and a great meal in the The Apple Bin Restaurant at the lodge...they have a brand new menu!
We were there in May 2010 for a day trip had a wonderful time at the beach. We enjoyed it so we will be there the last weekend in August for two days.
My family has been going there every summer since my youngest child was born, more or less 13 years. It is our favorite place to visit.
We just spent the weekend at Lake Murray SP tent camping. it was beautiful and a wonderful experience for our 4 year olds first camping trip. We were surprised to see pay showers -.50 for 3 min but the facilities were as clean as to be expected and rival any State Parks we have stayed at previously. Lots of resonably priced water activities as well as very nice swim beaches and lots and lots of trees! This is definitly on our go-to list for the furture!
I grew up on lake murray. It's the best lake that I've ever been to. I learned how to ski at lake murray. Tons of good times!!!!!!!
Stayed there and absolutely loved it. Nice area and lots of stuff to do. I 100% recommend it!!!
I have so many good memories of this lake. It is truly one of the most beautiful and peaceful places around. A great affordable place to take the whole family or just you and a loved one. Great fishing and camping, not too far from town. My wife and i go here at least once a year.
i spent every summer as a kid at lake murray and hadn't been back for many years until 2009. i had so many fond memories of the rock tower campsite area and had a wonderful time showing my daughter around and telling her about my summers at the lake. we decided to stay at one of the cabins and had an absolute ball while we were there. the staff were all so wonderful, my daughter and i enjoyed the pool, snow cone stand, the paddle boats and the water trampoline. lake murray will definitely be our pick for our mother/daughter vacation again this year and for many years to come.
Very nice park. Good sites for large RV's. Quiet, but only a short drive to town for needed supplies.
