Description

Lake Texoma is Oklahoma's second largest lake and one of the premier striped bass hot spots in the southwest.  Besides fishing and a myriad of watersports, Lake Texoma State Park offers swimming, camping, picnic areas, wildlife viewing opportunities and hiking.  The park also features camping, comfort stations with showers, boat ramps, and a small hiking trail near the Two Rivers Nature Center. The privately-operated Catfish Bay Marina located in the park offers a full-service marina with a fuel dock and striper guide fishing services.  A marina mart featuring a convenience store and gas station is also available on-site.

Lake Texoma State Park's overnight facilities include tent camping and two RV areas featuring sites with 50 amp full hookups and sites with 30 amp electric and water service.  The on-site Rally Campground offers an open grass area with 16 electric clusters accommodating up to four units each with 30 amp electric and water service.

Lake Texoma State Park is proud to be the home of the Texoma Striper Guide Association at Catfish Bay Marina.  Members include Richard Price from Price's Guide Service, James Allen from Blue Water Striper Guide Service, Ray Farrior from Snowgoose Striper Guide Service, and Gary and Terry Scarberry from Scarberry's Striper Guide Service.  The park highly recommends these fishing guides, as they all have years of experience helping visitors catch fish.  These guide services are available year round.

Lake Texoma State Park has no day-use fees.  Picnic tables and fire rings are available in day-use areas but are on a first come, first serve basis.

***WINTERIZATION NOTICE*** Four comfort stations closed from November 1 to March 1. Campgrounds will remain open, as well as one comfort station near each.  Two small camping areas have been closed for winter; however, each campground will still have tent and RV camping available.

***LOW WATER NOTICE*** Some boat ramps are closed due to low water conditions; however, three remain open.  One ramp is open in the Catfish Bay Marina area.

***LAKE ADVISORY***Currently Lake Texoma is under a blue-green algae advisory (see ODEQ or COE (Tulsa District) websites for additional information regarding the advisory).  All water activities are being allowed with no adverse effects to fishing.

The fall and winter is a great time to visit the park - it is very restful and a great time for viewing the eagles that migrate here for the winter. The park is kept clean and the staff is very helpful.

Stayed there during Thanksgiving, great views of the lake with easy access to camp sites and boat ramps. All staff were very helpful and pleasant. Will go back.

We have been there too, and found it to be very nice, with a great staff as well. Very clean bathrooms, and beautiful veiw of the lake with awesome access.

Lake Texoma State Park is only responsible for the campground areas. We take great pride in them and spend a lot of time keeping them clean and safe. The structures referenced below are not owned, nor operated by the state or state parks, therefore are beyond the control of the state park. Also noteworthy, Oklahoma State Parks operates one campground on Lake Texoma, the others are operated by Corps of Engineers and private operations.

Used to go to Lake Texoma a lot during the 90's, and just recently returned to take my wife and child for the first time.. What happened? The Park is really in shambles, it looked like a ghost town and sad, all the cabins are now abandoned and falling apart, no people at all, this used to be a wonderful place. It was very sad to see it this way.

From TravelOK.com Staff on 07/05/2011

Kathy, thank you for your question. Please call or email the park directly and they would be happy to help direct you to the perfect place for swimming. Have a safe and fun time at Lake Texoma State Park!

From kathy on 07/01/2011

does anyone know of a nice place to swim on the Oklahoma side of the lake?

From Eddie Kay Durham on 04/26/2011

From Bob on 03/30/2011

I just returned from a camping trip at lake texoma and it was wonderful. How ever, I must say texoma state park has seen better days in fact it was a dump. The marina is nice and the campgrounds were ok at best. The rest of the park has long sence fallen into disrepair and I would avoid this park at all cost. Plenty of other places to stay in and around the lake.

From Barbara Admire on 06/28/2010

My mom and dad took me camping, skiing and fishing on Texoma when I was a kid. My brothers and I took our kids and now we are taking grandkids. Beautiful place with camp, sites right by the water. Everything you would ever want to do at the lake is here.

From Pat Shaffer on 06/07/2010

Hundreds of people from the Texas panhandle enjoy going to Texhoma each year to enjoy the great fishing, water sports, the hospitality and the beauty of Texhoma State Park. Please stop the encroachment of corporate greed from destroying what was a wonderful vacation spot for families from Oklahoma as well as neighboring states.

From Sharron Ashton on 06/05/2010

We have 4 generations that have camped here. It is a wonderful escape and so many things to enjoy. Bring your families and find out how great it is.

From Naturalist10 on 01/07/2010

What a view. The park is going through some tough changes with the closing of the resort, but the campgrounds are well kept, the access to the lake is fantastic, superb fishing, and the staff there is absolutely wonderful.
