Roman Nose State Park features 11 cabins and a beautiful lodge. The 22-room lodge, originally constructed in 1956, has been completely renovated to reflect the natural landscape of the area. The reconstruction emphasizes the lodge's original mid-century design, while beautifully updating the look to today's modern standards. The newly decorated rooms feature large showers, comfy beds, contemporary furnishings with a nod to mid-century design and large flat-screen televisions. A restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner is located within the lodge. Use the red booking website link above to make cabin or lodge reservations now.
Roman Nose State Park offers many breathtaking views of the canyon, gypsum rock cliffs and is home to three natural springs. Group camps and picnic areas are located throughout the park. Camping is available at one of the 12 full hookup RV sites, 35 sites with water and electric or 33 tent sites. All campsites are available on a first come, first serve basis. Todd, there are currently four semi-modern RV sites left, but please keep in mind that it is first come, first serve. If you have any questions, please call 580-623-4218. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Beth, you can pay the campsite fee with a check, but you will need to include a driver's license number and phone number on the check. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
ARE THERE ANY RV SITES AVAILABLE
Hi! I was just wondering if I could pay the campsite fee with a check or does it need to be cash? Thanks!
Justin. All of the tent camping areas are open. We did get some rain last night but conditions remain good. Camp sites are $12 a night and you can have two tents on a single site at Roman Nose for the base cost of $12. If you have any additional questions please let us know and we hope to see you soon.
Justin, at this time Roman Nose State Park has not had enough rain for flooding and all the campgrounds are just fine. Happy camping and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
I was wondering with all the storms recently how the camp grounds were for tent camping. Just wanted to make sure it wasent flooded or anything.
Jazmin, we're sorry you've had trouble getting through to Roman Nose State Park. Due to the recent storms, we're experiencing some issues with phone lines. Unfortunately all the cabins have been reserved for Memorial Day weekend. There are a number of other privately-owned lodging properties located nearby the park, and you can search for those by selecting 'Lodging within 15 miles' underneath the map above. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Hi, I have been trying to call about reserving a cabin, but have not gotten an answer to any of my phone calls. However, it seems that this website has a great response rate! Do you have any cabins available for this Saturday and Sunday night?
Sarah, unfortunately tent sites at all of Oklahoma's state parks are available on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations are only accepted for cabins and lodge rooms. If you have any questions, please call Roman Nose State Park at 580-623-4218. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Do I have to call to reserve a spot to set up a tent and camp there at all?
James, that's not silly at all! The cabins are air conditioned with climate control in each cabin. Have a great trip and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
This may be a silly question, but are the cabins air conditioned?
Kara, the lodge pool is open for the season and is available for use to cabin and lodge guests only. The park pool is being made ready for the season and our goal is to have it available for the Memorial Day weekend. The pool will fill this week but a new chlorination system has been installed and we are not sure how long it will take to balance the chemicals. The park pool will open to the general public as soon as we can balance our chemical levels. Please let us know if we can answer any additional questions.
Are the pools open to everyone who stays onsite, whether its tent, rv, or cabins?
Heather, please give the park staff a call at 580-623-4218, and they will be able to tell you how many tent spaces have been available in years past. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
I know there is a cycling event taking place this coming weekend is first come first serve...have tent sites in the past filled IP quickly? We went a few weekends ago and had a great time. Thanks!!
Donna, cabin pricing from now through December 1 is $88 per night from Sunday through Thursday and $91 a night on the weekends. For availability, click on the green 'Book Now' link above or call the park directly at 800-892-8690. Have a great trip and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Candy, cabin rates from now through December 1 are $88 per night from Sunday through Thursday and $91 a night on the weekends. Each cabin sleeps four people between a queen-sized bed and a futon. There are photos of the cabins mixed in if you click the picture above and scroll through. Fishing is allowed on the lake, though it is a no-wake lake. Make sure you have an Oklahoma fishing license. There is no park or lake fee. Kayaks, canoes and paddleboats are available for rent by the hour from Roman Nose General Store. If you have any questions, please call the park at 800-892-8690 and they will be more than happy to help you. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Jimmy, canoe rental is available from the Roman Nose General Store, however they will not open until Memorial Day weekend, which is the last weekend in May. There are still plenty of things to do at Roman Nose State Park before then, and we hope you have a great trip! Thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Would like to know the price and availability of you cabins.
I can't find cabin rates or pictures on your site. Looking for Nov. 2013 tried the date search, but it won't still bring up pictures of cabins or how many in each cabin day trips-can I fish on the lake with small boat and is there a fee to get on the lake or in the park. How much for boat rentals?
Canoe rental for may 10th all day who to contact or go about renting a conoe thanks jimmy
John..... We are glad you and your family had such a great time. It was a great weekend to be out. If you are feeling real adventerous you should come back and check out one of our backcountry camp sites. I would suggest "creekside perch". Its a relatively short hike in and a really cool experience. Thanks for visiting Roman Nose.....
I wanted to let you know that our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at Roman Nose. Sleeping in a tipi will be something that our boys will remember for a long time. It was great that it wasn't busy, for a very nice weekend.
Karen, of course families are welcome at all of Oklahoma's state parks! We're very sorry that the booking system left so much to be desired. We've found that it is best to select your dates and leave the occupancy at 1 adult. That will pull up all the cabins and rooms available where you can see how many beds are offered. The teepees are not able to be reserved through our booking system. For the most up-to-date information on availability, please call the park directly at 800-892-8690 or email romannoselodge@oklahomaresorts.com.
Your online booking leaves much to be desired. There is no place to see what you are booking cabin or room or teepee and though the calendar says the date is open when you choose the day it says it is not. It also won't let you book 2 adults and 2 children. Families aren't welcome? Am I missing something?
please send info
Scott, that sounds like a great idea! All Oklahoma state parks are on a set rate scale of $23 a night for full hookup sites. An additional fee of $5 per night may apply for premium waterfront sites. The Roman Nose State Park Golf Course is open and you can book a tee time online. Fishing is great at Lake Watonga, and you can see a detailed map of the lake-including fishing spots-by clicking on the Lake Watonga link at the top right side of the page. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
We just purchased a camping trailer and wanted to make our first trip to Roman Nose. What is the rate of the full hook up RVsites near the water? Is the golf Course still open? How about a place to fish?
Allen. Roman Nose Has taken a good hit from this winter storm and power was restored last night. The park and lodge are still without water and the lodge will remain closed until water systems can be restored. The lodge was in partial operation for a short time today as managers tried to return calls. Tomorrow the regular front desk operations will be back in place at the lodge office and you will be able to get more information directly from the park at that time. Please give us a call at Roman Nose Lodge tomorrow for the most up to date information. 1-800-892-2538
I have a reservation to stay at Roman Nose State Park Lodge this Saturday. I have been trying to get info on whether or not the park is accessible after the snowstorm. Also how much snow might still be on the ground since I was planning on hiking. I have called them several times and emailed with no response. Just needing some info so I can decide what to do. Thank You!
Karry, you can absolutely tent camp at Roman Nose State Park! Primitive sites without electric or water hookups are $12 a night and go up from there. For more information, please contact the state park at 800-892-8690. Happy camping and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Can you camp in a tent in the park? If so, what is the nightly rate.
Jason, we did a Google search for bait shops in Watonga and found one located on Russworm Street. However, your best bet would be to contact Roman Nose State Park directly at 800-892-8690, and they will be more than happy to help you. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Where is the closest bait shop to get minnows to use to fish out at Lake Watonga?
Mary, please contact Roman Nose State Park directly at 800-892-8690, and they will be able to help you. Best wishes and thank you for using TravelOK.com!

Do you have a club room that could be used for a RV club of 13-15 rigs. If so, what would be the cost. We are all retirees. No children. Non smoking, etc.
Daina, per the Blaine County Commissioner Burn Ban Resolution, charcoal, propane and natural gas grills are permitted as long as you are cooking on a non-flammable surface and are at least five feet away from flammable vegetation. As far as swimming, cabin and lodge guests are welcome to use the lodge pool at no charge, though the pool will close after Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately, there is no swimming area on Lake Watonga. If you have any other questions, we would encourage you to speak with the park staff by calling one of the numbers above. Happy camping and thank you for visiting TravelOK.com!
Also, the Watonga Lake listing mentioned a playground at this state park. If there is one, it would be helpful to list that on the state park's description and include a photo.
Is charcoal grilling on the campsite grills permitted during the burn ban? If I opted to stay in a cabin to have access to the swimming pool that will be open Labor Day weekend, is there a charge for that pool? Is there a swim area on the lake?
Bill, pets are allowed in two of the park's 11 cabins, so please let the staff know that you will be bringing along your furry friend when you call to make reservations. There is also an additional fee of $10 per night. Have a great time at Roman Nose State Park and thank you for using TravelOK.com!
Are pets allowed in cabins?
James - Rates for the cabins are $88.00 plus tax on weekdays, $91.00 plus tax on weekends. The pool at the Roman Nose State Park Lodge is open until Labor Day, and is available to cabin guests. Thank you for visiting TravelOK.com!
where can i find cabin rental prices and is the pool open?
Great family location. We loved our time at the RV park near the general store.
Carrie, per the Blaine County Commissioner Burn Ban Resolution, charcoal, propane and natural gas grills are permitted as long as you are cooking on a non-flammable surface and are at least five feet away from flammable vegetation. If you have any other questions, we would encourage you to speak with the park staff by calling one of the numbers above. Happy camping and thank you for visiting TravelOK.com.
we are planning a trip soon and know you are in a burn ban can we use propane grills or charcoal grills while there?
Ellen, according to the Roman Nose State Park FAQs document in the top right corner of this page, boats for fishing are allowed on the lake as long as they are a 'no wake' boat. Any boat on the lake also has to be a registered vehicle with proper safety equipment. If you have any other questions, we would encourage you to speak with the park staff by phone or email and they'd be happy to assist you in planning your visit to Roman Nose State Park. Happy fishing and thank you for visiting TravelOK.com.
Dustin, the RV sites with all utilities included is 28.00 per day. For the size of the pad and the amp service, please contact the park directly using the phone number or email address above. Happy camping and thank you for visiting TravelOK.com.
How big are the RV campsites? Can we reserve one? How much do the RV sites with 50 amp service cost per day?
We have an inflatable K-Boat, a cross between a Kayak and a Canoe, with a trolling motor. Would we be allowed to use it in the lakes for fishing? Also, are there places to fish from the bank? Thanks.
Chance, the camp sites at Oklahoma State Parks are first come, first served. If you have any questions about the camp sites or what they offer, please feel free to call or e-mail the park using the contact information above. Thank you for using TravelOK.com and have a fun visit to Roman Nose State Park.
Is it possible to reserve a camp site in advance? if so where could I do this.
We hadn't been to the park for a couple of years and when we were looking for a place to take my two young granddaughters swimming, thought it would be a good place to spend the day. So we drove 50 miles to find out that the pool wasn't open. We enjoyed the rest of the park but had really looked forward to cooling off at the pool and the girls were so disappointed because that was their big thing and it was really hot. Got some really good pictures but will definitely call before we make a trip for a specific activity.
Stephanie, the swimming pool is closed for repairs right now, we apologize for the inconvenience. Expected to open within the next week to ten days, adults 13 years and older can swim for 5.00, children 13 years and younger can swim for 4.00 and children under the age of two are free. Give the park a call before you head out and we hope you enjoy your visit to Roman Nose State Park very soon.
How much does it cost to go swimming at the pool in the park? Thank you!
Natalie, yes dogs are welcome in Roman Nose State Park as long as they are kept on a leash, never left unattended and cleaned up after during their visit. For more information about which trails would be the most dog-friendly, give the park a call or send an email and speak to the park naturalist, he'd be a great help in that area. Enjoy your visit to Roman Nose State Park and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
Is it ok to bring your dog on a hike? If so are there certain trails you would recommend over others?
Heather, that is a great question! Yes, you may bring your own propane grill to the park but please check with the park office for any current burn ban regulations before using the grill in the park or maybe even before you visit. We appreciate your business at Roman Nose State Park and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
Can u being your own propane grill to the park?
You've found them Tanna! We have three tipi campsites which are available from April through October. The fee for each of these sites is $25 per night. You can make a reservation by calling the Lodge office at 800.892.8690. When not reserved, these sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
a month to 6weeks ago on discover Oklahoma there was something simular to a teepee that you could rent didn,t catch where just walked in at the end of show. Any ideas where this was?
Missy, tent camping is $12 per night. Pack Saddle Campground is located along Bitter Creek near the center of the park. It's a great spot for a shady, quiet getaway. Beaver Dam and Muffler Gap Campgrounds are perfect jumping-off points for many of the park's activities. They are located along the shore of Lake Boecher, near the General Store and the Two Lakes Trailhead. There is also a comfort station with showers located in this area. Or for a truly unique camping experience you can also opt for a stay in a tipi (which is $25 per night, available from April through October).
can someone tell me how much it is to rent a tent site and which area is best?thank you
Judy, our most popular RV sites are in the Two Lakes Campground. It has 8 modern sites with water, sewer, and 50 amp electric service (one of these is an ADA site) and one tent site. This campground is centrally located with easy access to several great fishing spots, a trailhead for hiking or mountain biking, and the Roman Nose General Store which hosts many of the park's seasonal activities and features a cafe. Our largest campground is Canyon Vista which has 4 modern sites, 3 tent sites, and 19 semi-modern sites with water and either 30 or 50 amp electric. The adjacent Cedar Cove Campground is well shaded and has 7 semi-modern sites with 30 amp electric and 3 tent sites. The Bitter Creek Campground, located near the cabins, has 5 semi-modern sites with water and 50 amp elecrtic; one of which is an ADA site.
Can anyone tell me about the RV camping areas? And which is best? I have never been to this Roman Nose State Park... Thank you, Judy B.
We had a fabulous time. The staff is very friendly, the food is very good and reasonably priced. We loved the rooms. Everything is updated with lots of details. The beds are amazing with the mattresses and pillows being beyond comfortable. It's a great place to get away from the world and with so few rooms it doesn't have the traffic of a big hotel. It truly feels as though you are in your own private lodge away from the frantic world. This is a five star for comfort.
My family stays @ Roman Nose a couple times a year!! We love the beauty of the park, there is never a shortage of things to do or see!!! We're planing a cabin stay in just a couple of weeks!!! See you soon!
My husband, 4 year old son and I spent one night in one of the duplex cabins. We enjoyed having a nice meal at the lodge before retreating to the more rustic setting of the cabin. It was great for our little family, very peaceful place. The inside of our cabin was very cutely decorated and was clean. I initially wanted to stay in a lodge room since they were renovated but chose the rustic setting of the cabin instead. We will definitely make this a getaway habit from OKC.
Mark, the cabins were re-furnished just a couple of years ago and looked really nice! Visit the booking web site link above and you can see a couple of cabin photos and check available dates and prices. Have a great time at Roman Nose State Park and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
We're planning a fall trip to Roman Nose and can't decide where to stay. The lodge renovation looks great! Wondering if the cabins have been renovated as well? If so, could you send me some photos?
Jamie, the information that you received from the park is correct. Campsites for all state parks are first come, first served. Thank you for using TravelOK.com and have a great time at Roman Nose State Park.
Is there a way to rent a campsite for a travel trailer in advance. I called the number on the website and was told it was first come, first serve.
We enjoyed a family dinner at the lodge last night. The food and service were top notch! There were seven of us, including my 91 year old mother-in-law and father-in-law. The server and kitchen made the slight menu accommodation that gave them meals that were perfect for them. The manager of the hotel also gave us a tour of one of the guest rooms. That delighted our parents. It was a wonderful evening and the kind treatment of a couple of Oklahoma's most wonderful senior citizens was very much appreciated! Thank you, thank you!
Frank, there is free Wi-Fi available in the Roman Nose Lodge. Have a great time at Roman Nose State Park and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
Is there any wifi anywhere in the park ?
Yasmin, dogs are welcome in the Oklahoma State Parks as long as they are kept on a leash, never left unattended and picked up after. Thank you for using TravelOK.com and have a great time at the park.
I would like to know if dogs are allowed in the roman nose park ? and are they allowed in the Natural Springs, horseback rideing, mini golfing, and all the other activities. ?
Emill, please contact the park directly using the toll free number or the email address and the experts at the park can help you with pricing information for your visit. Have a great time at Roman Nose State Park and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
We are planning to visit this month the Roman Nose Park, for one day. I would truly appreciate if somebody could estimate for me what are the prices for renting a paddle boat and a mountain bike this season. Thanks in advance.
We had RV's there Memorial Day wknd, going past horse stables, at very end right by the lake. Ppl were there for family reunion, they stayed up till 2 am yelling, drinking, laughing very loudly a couple nights. Made all of us crabby for our stay. Also, dogs barking early in the morning. We left Sun instead of Mon. Otherwise, great place and lots to do there.
Sharon, we would love the chance to visit with you when you come out to the park. We always enjoy hearing tales from that important time in the park's--and the nation's--history.
I grew up in western Oklahoma, and I can tell you Roman Nose is a fine, interesting and beautiful place. If your biggest gripe is about the outdoor restrooms not smelling like roses, or some idiot among us who would dump on this land, you should stay at the lodge where all amenities are available. For anyone considering a visit to this park, I would highly recommend it and feel confident you will enjoy this unique get-away!
I have not been yet, but my dad was a part of the CCC Company that help build the structures. I can't wait to see it.
My husband and I camp here every year in mid may. We stay in the teepees and have never had a bad experience. It is our favorite place to camp because it is close to the city, the people are friendly and it's quiet and relaxing and the terrain is beautiful. I don't understand all the bad comments. It's a state park not an amusement park, you should visit to get closer to nature not to be entertained. And I'm not sure the bathrooms at any campground would be pristine. I do not go expecting that. I love Roman Nose
Roman Nose State Park has beautifully updated rooms and cabins with wheel chair accessibility. I was very pleased!
Scott, tent camping is generally first come first served in all state parks. You might want to call the park for more details or special arrangements, if available. Thank you for using TravelOK.com and have a great time at Roman Nose State Park.
Is there any way to book a tent campsite online?
Gary there is RV camping year round at Roman Nose State Park. Have a great time and thank you for using TravelOK.com.
HOw long is the RV camping available?
i just spent the weekend out there for the semiannual horseback trail ride. the fundraiser for the hospital. the scenery was beautiful. it's been a while since i've seen so much open space, i live in OKC. even tho we camped on the Wolfe ranch we did use the showers in the park's camp area. the bathrooms are ok but i wish there had been hot water. lol overall i thought it was great!
wow nasty!!!!!!!! dont go here! i used to love camping here but it got nasty! i was walking with my dog by the big springs and went over by the pool looking down at the creek it smelt like something was dead! i told my husband to come see what that smell was because it was bothering me . we looked down by the creek and someone dump sewage from there rv it was all in the leafs of the trees and the ground by the creek and to top it off me and my dog was standing in it and i thought it was mud, but after looking at it because i couldnt believe it i saw toilet paper pieces everywhere in it! this place needs to be shut down! i hope the kids in the canoes that were splashing each other dont get sick from that!
Stayed in the group camp for a family reunion. Bathrooms were disgusting. I can't believe they were not cleaned before we came. Kitchen in the dining hall was not as clean as we would have liked, but it was great in preparing meals. Staff was friendly, but booking process slightly unprofessional. Lots of activities available - except pool was not open on Saturday as promised.
The golf course, while in average shape most of the year is a must play for any Oklahoman. It is by far... repeating for effect here... BY FAR... the most unique golf course I've ever played. The cabins are above average by State Park standards although generally most of the State Parks are in need of update. Looking forward to the Lodge reopening in October!!!
anothr one close to home
Not sure how the previous reviewer had such a bad experience? We all had a great time doing all the family activities the park has to offer other than the swimming pool-like riding bikes, hiking, paddle boating, canoeing, mini golfing, fishing. And it is only a little over an hour's drive from OKC so I would recommend it as a day trip or an overnight camping trip.
This is absolutly the worst place to take your family for a nice weekend. Pool did not open until Sunday, bathrooms were disgusting even by public restroom standards, rudeness of fellow campers was unbelievable, I will take my family else where for our next camping adventure.
Roman Nose is a great place for all family members. The best part I think is the public pool. It is the best vacation place i've ever been .
My favorite spot is the big spring area, which is down by the public swimming pool. It's a fantastic picnic area with lots of shade, great for activities with kids. They have a little bit of open area good for playing ball, and they have a small playset with swings and a slide. There is a stream system and natural pond there that is so beautiful and so fun for the kids to play in. The big spring itself is basically a cave where water is gushing out from underground in the form of a small waterfall. It's very cool, put it on your list to check out during a visit. Watch out for poison ivy and get ready - that water is COLD! This spot is very easy to miss if you're not familiar with the area. Ask a local if you can't find it.
You would never guess there's so much to do at Roman Nose. Even though you could drive straight through the park in 5 minutes, if you take the time to explore you can easily spend an afternoon or a weekend and still be finding new things on your next visit. I love all the classic CCC architecture and the diversity of terrain and wildlife on the trails.
