Talimena State Park marks the Oklahoma entrance to the Talimena National Scenic Drive, a winding road through the Winding Stair Mountains that is known for spectacular spring and fall foliage.  Hiking and backpacking trails throughout the Ouachita National Forest begin at Talimena State Park and offer a wide range of scenic, wooded terrain.  Dirt bikes and ATVs are permitted in the park as an entrance point to the national forest lands. Honor system reservations for RV and tent campsites are accepted by calling the park office.

Tent sites: $12

RV sites with electric & water hookups: $20

Premium sites: Additional $5

Pavilion rental (includes water, electric, extra large grills and six tables): $45 per day

Located 20 miles south of Wister and 6 miles north of Talihina on Hwy 271 one mile south of the entrance to the Talimena Scenic Drive (Hwy 1).

Joseph If you are planning to come during Spring Break please call or email us so we know lots of people call us to reserve sites at that time.

Mary & Harold. Good to know about the controlled burn. We drove the scenic route from 259 towards the park and was actually OK'ed to drive the smoke. I looked on the site for any burn notice and did not see anything. That was our first time up in the area. It looks great and we are planning to come stay a the park the weekend of March 21.
