Description

***WINTERIZATION NOTICE*** Shady Grove, Blue Jay Knob RV areas, Upper DX, Bluff View tent areas, Flying Squirrel RV area and the Hickory Flat tent area, boat ramp and courtesy dock will be closed from November 1 to March 1. Some cabins and courtyard cottages may also be winterized.

Tenkiller State Park is known as Oklahoma's "heaven in the hills."  The sparkling blue waters of Lake Tenkiller offer water enthusiasts an abundance of recreational opportunities including water skiing, fishing, boating, tubing and scuba diving.  Facilities include a volleyball court, basketball court, shuffleboard court, horseshoe pit, amphitheater, playgrounds, community building, a swimming pool, nature center, group picnic shelters, swim beaches, kids' fishing pond, paved hiking trail and lighted boat ramps.

Lake Tenkiller is considered one of the best places in the state to go scuba diving, as its waters are clear from eight to 28 feet.  Tenkiller Scuba Park is a diver's dream, with sunken vehicles, planes and boats to explore underwater.  In some areas of the lake, the remains of homesteads and artifacts left behind before the lake was formed litter the lake bottom and give divers a glimpse of history.  The lake's underwater terrain ranges from mildly sloping hills to rock cliffs, and the water goes up to 165 feet deep in places.  With an Oklahoma fishing license, divers can try their luck at spearfishing for non-game fish. Two diving pro shops are located on the lake, offering training, certification and equipment rental.

In addition to tent and RV campgrounds, Tenkiller State Park guests may choose from 39 cabins, ranging from one to three bedroom styles.  All the cabins, except for the three bedroom model, are duplexes.  Cabins are equipped with dishes, linens, full kitchens, heat, air conditioning and satellite television.  Tenkiller State Park also offers courtyard cottages.  Each room features heat and air, a refrigerator and linens.  Restrooms and showers are located in comfort stations throughout the park.  Some cabins are pet friendly.

Children 16 and under may catch their limit of three fish per day with no charge or permit required in the kids' fishing pond at Tenkiller State Park.  The park's Pine Cove Marina offers fuel, gifts, sportswear, snacks, repairs and boat slip rentals, as well as the floating Clearwater Cafe.

I've scheduled a weekend of camping in my 38' RV. I was told I would be able to fit into the site but I am a bit concerned about that. Has anyone camped there in a large RV? Would greatly appreciate your input.

I attended the Butterfield Men's Retreat, March 2011. The accommodations you guys for us were greatly appreciated. Park was very clean, Pads were very well maintained, and we also appreciated Big Daddy's opening up on Thursday for us. Thank You for letting us have a move of God as men together, and loved the welcome sign you guys had at the entrance. It let us know you care. Thanks again guys!

From Gene Redden on 03/17/2011

I attended the Butterfield mens retreat last weekend. I took my motor home and have never parked on a pad with so much extra space keft on both sides of the motor home. The park was in excellent shape and I appreciate everything that was done to make our retreat a great experience. Many thanks to all the park staff with a special thank you to Doris Risley, I am looking forward to a return visit this fall.

From GEORGE DAVIS on 03/17/2011

I ATTENDED THE MENS RETREAT THAT BUTTERFIELD CHURCH OF GOD HAD AT THE PARK LAST WEEKEND. I HAD A GREAT TIME. THE PARK WAS VERY NICE AND CLEAN, THE PARK ATTENDENTS WERE VERY HELPFUL AND CURTIOUS. I REMEMBER ONE OF THE ATTENDANTS DORIS RISLEY WAS VERY HELPFUL WHEN WE NEEDED ANYTHING. HE WAS NICE ENOUGH TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS WE HAD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY AND KINDNESS.

From Tim Mays on 03/16/2011

I attended the Butterfield mens retreat last weekend. I stayed in one of the cabins with my son and son-in-law. The cabins were very clean and everything worked well. Park was very nice and the way the staff took care of everything makes this the place to stay. Thanks again

From William Chiles on 03/16/2011

I attended the Butterfield Assembly of God men's retreat at Tenkiller State Park in March of 2011 and had a great time. Doris Risley did a great job taking care of us.

From James Shelly on 03/16/2011

What an outstanding park! Clean, courteous and friendly. We attended the Butterfield Assembly of God men's retreat here March of 2011 and what a great time we had. We really appreciated what a great job Doris Risley did of taking care of us. This will definitely be on my familie's list of campsites to visit during the camping seasons to come.

From Brent Fairchild on 03/16/2011

From Harold Blanscet on 03/16/2011

I attended Butterfield Assembly of God's men's retreat at Tenkiller State Park last weekend and really enjoyed it. It was my first time to camp there. Backing into my site was easy and the pad was level and there was plenty of room on both sides of me. The area we were in was very clean and lots of trees. For group camping it was excellent because of the layout of the sites. I walked a couple of times down to the lake and the view was awsome. I can see this would be a great place for a family outing because of the ongoing presence of the park personnel which gives you a sense of security. Everyone was friendly and very cooperative. I plan on returning, thanks for everything.

From Ronnie Gilmore on 03/16/2011

I am the Pastor of Butterfield Assembly of God church in Van Buren, Arkansas. We recently held our annual Men's Retreat at Tenkiller State Park and had a wonderful time! It was such a success thanks to the staff at the park. I am so grateful to all of the employees for all of the hospitality. Everyone that we came in contact with from the park was so nice. I would certainly like to give a special compliment to Doris Risley our agent for setting the whole thing up and taking such good care of us. We could not have asked for better service. We will definately be returning to this campground.

From Vic & Nancy Hughes on 09/27/2010

LOVED IT!!!!! We stayed in Cabin 19. Will stay again next year. Only thing we saw wrong was no electric outlet in bathroom. But then we're supposed to be camping right.

From Bobby on 06/20/2010

I think Tenkiller Lake and State Park should noted as a recreational area. I stayed at the Flying Squirrel RV and tent camp site for two nights to go trout fishing. On one side was the highway complete with convenient store and night club along with all the associated noise and annoyances. On the other side was the front entrance to the park which had its contribution of noise from all the Harley Davidsons shifting gears. It is sort of like camping in Tulsa next to Peoria Street on Friday night without any noticeable shootings. Forget about fishing on the lake from the bank or docks in the summer because of all the swimming. Forget about fishing a boat also. You are a sitting target for a Jet Ski and risk being hit by objects that are usually occupied by helpless riders clinging for their lives, towed by boats with horsepower that compares to above average drag racing cars, and operated by maniacs. Go camping at Tenkiller for fun but not peace and quiet. As for relaxation and fishing get a trout license and go trout fishing below the dam. Camp somewhere else.

From Teresa Rodgers on 05/07/2010

I've been going to Tenkiller most all of my life. I went camping and fishing there as a child. I'm a senior citizen now. I've enjoyed cabins, fishing, camping, canoeing, two nights on the river from Flint Arkansas to Hanging Rock our campsite. I've been back and forth or up and down. I've thought it was always heaven on earth. I've gone to that area for over 40 years steadily.

From connie burdine on 02/28/2010

I would like to tell all the staff at Tenkiller thank you,for last year.In June of last year our family had the Burditt reunion at Tenkiller. We decided to have at Tenkiller again because we love the atmosphere. Our children and grandchildren loved it. We are getting ready to come again on June 10-13.

From Gordon & Kathy Knox on 02/09/2010

Tenkiller state park is by far a hidden gem. Our family has established a tradition for spending our spring breaks there. As a family there is something for all to do. Accomodations and views are excellent for blending in with an Oklahoma's sunrise or sunset.
