This upscale hotel is located in the heart of downtown Oklahoma City and is adjacent to the Cox Convention Center. For over 98 years, the historic Skirvin Hotel has been synonymous with elegance and innovation hosting oil barons, dignitaries, political leaders and Presidents. It has been restored to the original grandeur that made the Skirvin Hotel an Oklahoma City landmark. The 225 exquisitely appointed rooms are designed with all of the comforts and conveniences of modern hospitality. Each guest room is equipped with the latest technology and features one king or two double beds, terry cloth robes and complimentary bottled water for two. The Skirvin is within walking distance to the Chesapeake Energy Arena, Bricktown Canal and Entertainment District, Bricktown Ballpark, Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum, Oklahoma City Museum of Art and only five minutes from the State Capitol.
The Skirvin Hilton Hotel has a history of hauntings and manifestations dating back to the 1930s when a hotel maid named "Effie" jumped from the 10th floor with her baby in her arms. Some rumors link Effie in an affair with the hotel's founder, W.B. Skirvin, who locked his mistress in a 10th floor room to protect his reputation from the scandal. Despite knocking and pleas for help, which can reportedly be heard to this day, no one came to aid the young mother. Several unaccounted for events concerning Effie include an apparition wandering through the halls and even running toward the window she jumped out of, the cries from a baby keeping guests awake at night and an unmanned maid's cart rolling through the halls.
More recent accounts of the haunting have been documented by the New York Knicks who blame the haunting on their 2010 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Chicago Bulls also heard strange sounds and doors slamming shut when they stayed at the hotel.
