From Peggy Coffey on 11/29/10

My family and I stayed here for three days during Thanksgiving 2010. Unlike most house rentals I've done in the past, this kitchen is not fully equipped with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, etc. In fact, I would hesitate to call this a kitchen at all, just a food prep area. The dishwasher does not work and the faucet in the kitchen sink goes all the way around so turning off the cold water is a bit tricky and the pressure is awful. It was a little warm the first day so we turned on the small window unit in the kitchen to cool this 2000 SF building, and lucky for us it wasn’t very warm. None of the windows open so your option is to turn on the air conditioning or heat or leave the front and back doors open to get outside air. Evidently, the owner previously had an antique shop so everything in the main room is for sale, and has price tags on it up to and including placemats on the table and seat cushions on the dining room chairs. There is a countertop that goes all the way down two walls. On one wall there are cabinet doors underneath the counter full of paint cans and junk. On the other side there are no cabinet doors and there is a bunch of decorative stuff for sale in this area. We brought in additional dishes as we knew there would probably not be enough serving dishes for a Thanksgiving dinner but we had no place to store them because the cabinet spaces were full of junk. The beds were very comfortable and the in suite bathroom had a nice tub and shower. The TV in the new bedroom did not work so we had a large TV in the main room and a smaller one in one of the bedrooms. The shower in the main bathroom off the main room stopped working on the third day without any warning so we had 10 people trying to shower in one bathroom that day. There is a washer and dryer in this main bathroom but we were told by the manager the washer leaked so not to use it. There were 2 tables that seated six people each and we had room to bring in another table as we had 25 people for Thanksgiving dinner so the main room is large enough for 25 people. The wireless internet only seemed to work on the back deck which was o.k. until the temperature dropped to 22 degrees on the second day and then we had no service. There is a ½ bath on the back deck and the guests are required to make sure the heater stays going in this room so the pipes don’t freeze. There is a burn pit out back and wood available to have a nice fire each night and I will say my family enjoyed spending time around the fire pit. I would not stay here again. I think the $350 is too much for a place that needs so much work done to it to make it a good rental property. If you are looking for a place for just a day to have a party, this might work fine.
