rumors have come up that Carl Albert will be taking over the lake. What their plans are to do with it are unclear. From the looks of things, it may just become a fishing lake. The best one to contact would be Sallisaw Commerce

We brought land inside brushy to build our dream house. We wanted to have a place that our children and gramd children could make memories of a great lake and camping

I absolutely hate that there closing brushy lake. I hope the city of sallisaw takes it back over and maintains it in same way that the staff that's there has. Some of my best childhood memories are from out there. I've moved to arkansas and my wife is from Arkansas and both of us have childhood memories from there. We went camping there this spring and found out they were closing it's ashame we won't be able to give our children the childhood memories we had.

just heard from my sister that the park is going to be closed. Why this one? I don't have a summer memory that does not include Brushy Lake. I still travel a good distance just to camp there. It is the only reason I travel to Oklahoma. I love the whole feel of the place. It is breaking my heart that it is no longer going to be my first camp trip of the year....someone please find a way to keep our favorite little lake open for camping...

I wonder what the people in ok. city are thinking when they try and do these things, it it totally unjustified. Many many people come here from around the neighboring states, I always camp there every spring and I am from Sallisaw. It is one of the most well kept lake where you can enjoy nature at its best. I commend the staff that has taken care of this lake , mike stan mary , and Mark. It is neat and tidy and very very secure . I also have a nephew that drown there in the past. It is a shame that the politicians take away from the people a place where baptisims and peace of mind come from before they take away things that are less important to people.. This state is making a bad mistake to do this. There is so many memories of so many people that live here to do away with it and the staff that has made it work so well .. thank you Jim Benge

I read that this is one of the parks to be shut down this fall, how can this be? There were two fine new piers built last year, both are handicapped accessible and useful for all ages. Surely the state can keep this little state park open? What a sad thing to start closing state parks.

I have lived in this area and swam in this lake all my life. My grandfather swam across this lake when he was almost 70 years old. It is beautiful, quiet and a great family place.
