118th Cherokee Strip Celebration Held in Perry
By Tourism Industry Partner
Enjoy a full day of activities at the annual Cherokee Strip Celebration in Perry on Saturday, September 17, 2011. This festival, held each September since 1893, celebrates the founding of the community of Perry and includes a wide array of live entertainment, food, exhibitors and more. Activities start early with the 5K Run, the “Big Band” concert at 9:00 AM and the parade at 10:30 AM around the streets of the downtown square. Have lunch on the square and shop the 100 exhibitor and food vendors. Mock gunfights, a trick roper, the Jason Savory Band, local talent acts and the Annual Tiny Tot Review will provide entertainment in the afternoon on two stages. Bring the kids to the Carnival or head over to the Cherokee Strip Museum which hosts a tea and open house for the event. Finish the day at the Cherokee Strip TCRA/OPEN Rodeo. Drawing people from all over the surrounding area and beyond, the Cherokee Strip Celebration is a major event that will have you and your family jumping from one exciting activity to the next.
