Avard Hosts 7th Annual Dutch Oven Cook Off, Fall Festival
By Tourism Industry Partner
The small town of Avard (pop: 19) in NW Oklahoma (Woods County - Red Carpet Coutry) is having their annual event this October 1st (Saturday 8:00 am - 11:00 pm).
This is our first year to be sanctioned by the IDOS - International Ducth Oven Society!
We have a day full of activities planned, with a complementary bisquit and gravy breakfast for venders and competitors.
The cook off starts at 8:00 am & Judging is at noon.
We have the Simpson Brothers from Skeleton Creek Productions (Enid, OK) as our guest judges this year and if you ever had the opportunity to met the brothers, Rick and Larry, they are quite the pair of characters!
In the afternoon we have Pake McEntire appearing in a special family country music show (Pake is the brother to Reba) he will be playing two 45 minutes sets at 1:15 and 2:45 pm.
Of course through out the day we have a kids area set up with all sorts of fun activities and prizes for the little ones. The evening will kick off with a complementary (well, donations requested) cat fish fry with hushpuppies and from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm we have music entertainment with Gary Reed and the Flatland Flyers.
There will be a raffle for a handmade afghan that has the Avard Cook Off worked into the weave and assorted venders and demonstrators of dutch oven cooking.
