BP Donates CNG Truck to Oklahoma State Parks
By Oklahoma Tourism Staff
BP continues partnership with Oklahoma State Parks through a donation of a CNG/bi-fuel truck to Robbers Cave State Park.
The Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department is pleased to announce a donation from BP of a CNG/bi-fuel truck to Robbers Cave State Park.
This donation is a continuation of BP’s partnership with the park and the community of Wilburton. Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin applauds BP and its local representative, Mike Thompson, for their generous contribution, partnership with our state parks and history of safe and responsible operation in the state of Oklahoma.
"BP continues to be an excellent corporate citizen and partner for the state of Oklahoma," said Fallin. "This generous gift will help the Tourism Department as it works to maintain one of our state's most beautiful parks. The new CNG/bi-fuel truck will also save taxpayer dollars by supporting clean, cost-efficient natural gas fuel."
For many years, the Oklahoma State Park system has permitted oil and gas drilling on state owned park properties. BP drilled, and currently operates, multiple wells at Robbers Cave State Park.
“BP, as the second-largest producer of natural gas in Oklahoma and a significant employer, is proud to partner with the state of Oklahoma on this important project, which will not only help maintain one of the state’s natural treasures but also demonstrate the vast potential of natural gas as a clean, abundant fuel source,” said Carl Dupuy, BP’s Arkoma Onshore Site Manager.
“We appreciate this partnership and are enthusiastic about BP’s generous donation of a bi-fuel truck to Robbers Cave,” said Oklahoma State Parks Director Kris Marek. “This CNG truck will reduce fuel costs and help us maintain a clean and healthy park environment. BP is a safe and reliable operator and a conscientious steward of the natural resources at Robbers Cave State Park.”
Both organizations view this as an extension of their long-term partnership and hope to find other opportunities to work together in the future.
“Our staff partners with BP staff on events such as the annual fall festival at Robbers Cave,” Marek added. “They have also assisted the department with the development of an outdoor classroom area at the park. We appreciate BP’s continued partnership and are grateful for their donation of a CNG/bi-fuel truck to Robbers Cave.”
