Camp McFadden, Sun ‘n Fun and Kaw Lake
By Tourism Industry Partner
KAW LAKE, OK (March 17, 2011) Spring means travel shows and the Kaw Lake Association, Camp McFadden, Sun ‘n Fun Waterpark and Ponca City Tourism are teaming up to promote the area through travel and home shows in the region.
The Kansas Boat, Sport and Travel Show in Wichita last month was the first of numerous shows through April. An estimated 10,000 people mostly from southern Kansas attended the four-day show at the Kansas Pavilion.
“This is one of the best shows for Kaw Lake,” said Kathy Tippin, executive director of the Kaw Lake Association. “We partner with other lakes, countries and attractions in an Oklahoma section at this show. We’re also glad that The Boat House from Ponca City is a major player in this show selling boats.” The Kaw Lake Association has had a presence at this show for over 15 years.
The second show was the KSOK Women’s Fair held in Arkansas City earlier this week. This was the second consecutive year for the Kaw Lake Association and Camp McFadden to partner at this event. This year Sun ‘n Fun Waterpark also partnered in this show. Camp McFadden offered as a door prize a two-night stay in a cabin at the camp and Sun ‘n Fun gave away a day pass and Sun ‘n Fun t-shirt. The same show will be repeated this coming Tuesday, March 22 from 5:30-8 p.m.at Baden Square in Winfield.
March 26 and 27 will be the Cherokee Strip Home and Garden Show at the Agri-Business Building in Arkansas City. This is a fund-raiser for the Cherokee Strip Land Rush Museum in Arkansas City. In addition to the Kaw Lake Association area booths include the Herb Festival, The Bivin Garden in Shidler and Shaw/United Country Real Estate.
April the Kaw Lake Association will participate in the WBBZ Spring Expo April 16, the ConocoPhillips Volunteer Fair April 13 and the Enid Home and Garden Show April 21-23. Area businesses including Sun ‘n Fun and Ponca City Tourism will partner with the Kaw Lake Association for the WBBZ Spring Expo. Camp McFadden also will have a booth at the ConocoPhillips Volunteer Fair. Red Carpet Country (northwest Oklahoma) will partner with the Kaw Lake Association for the Enid Home and Garden Show.
These various shows offer the opportunity to distribute the 2011 Kaw Lake magazine along with other literature from attractions and businesses that are members of the Kaw Lake Association.
