Checotah First Baptist Church to Perform Christmas Play
By Tourism Industry Partner
Checotah First Baptist Church is busy working on the Christmas musical drama called “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” Set in the 1940s right before WWII began, the musical portrays a family’s struggles of going through the Holiday season with family members absent due to the early efforts of getting the country prepared for war. A prevailing theme of “Hope Is Just Around the Corner” runs throughout the entire program.
Complete with actors portraying the family, as well as a 1940s era radio broadcaster, sound effects, and the Musical Chorale, or chorus, the drama is a look back in time. The radio programs include colorful characters such as the Quackenbush Sisters, Olivia Orange, The Shadow and more. Directed by Mrs. Betty Barrett, with the choir directed by Mikel Hood, the play will make an enjoyable family evening. Make plans to attend the event on the evenings of Friday, December 16th at 6:00 PM and Sunday, December 19th at 6:00 PM at the First Baptist Church, Checotah and step back in time with the cast.
