The Frederick Chamber is gearing up for it’s  fourth annual Cotton Festival this Saturday, November 6th,  there is a great deal going on that day, below is a run down of all that is going on!

Don’t miss the new Chamber of Commerce Cow Plop Contest.  The Cow Plop is held in conjunction with the Cotton/Ag festival in downtown Frederick.  The object of the contest is to have the cow plop on your

square.  If she does you win $250.   Buy a ticket from the Chamber

office or at the festival, you need not be present to win however it is encouraged you be there to cheer on the cow.  Tickets are $5 or 5 chances for $20.  Get your tickets and be there at 12:30 to see if you win.

Cotton Pick’n Chili Cook Off: We have several teams lined up! Chili tickets are being sold by the Pageant contestants, but if you still need one they are available at the Chamber office, and will be sold that day.

Tickets are $5, with your ticket you will be able to sample each team’s chili. Vote for your favorite by placing your ticket in the team’s bin, and then you will be able to enjoy a full bowl of their chili, along with crackers!  There will be other food available, including “Chamber Chili”, corn dogs, caramel apples, and homemade pie from the Arts and Humanities Council and Cotton Candy from Xi Alpha Chi!

Free Tours: There will be a new tour this year a tour of Oklahoma’s second largest dairy, the Van der Laan Dairy!   Also, there will be tours to Red River Cotton Gin and the Oklahoma Cotton Cooperative Association Cotton Texoma Warehouse. The tours are free, and transportation will be provided.  The Dairy and Cotton Gin tour will be offered at 10:15am, and the Cotton Gin tour will be offered again at 2:15pm.

Vendors: Over 20 vendors will  be offering all sorts of goods, including candles, jewelry, gifts, honey, hair bows, and clothing.

Inflatables: There will be several set up east of the courthouse for the kids to enjoy, including “jumpers” for little kids and a big tiger slide for the older kids! There will also be crafts for the kids as well.

City Wide Garage Sale!  A list will be available at the chamber office, and the day of the festival at the Chamber booth and at the Chamber office.

Cotton and Agricultural:  Come learn all about 1920’s and modern cotton farming. Activities will include: Cotton crafts, cotton spinning and weaving, cotton displays, Farm Equipment, and Tractor and educational displays. This is in conjunction with the Pioneer Townsite Museum’s ”Seed to Sew” program. The ”Seed to Sew”

Program covers cotton picking, ginning, carding, spinning, weaving and sewing. It also features exhibitions of cotton farming from the early 20th century, including a mini-cotton gin.  Come pick your own cotton from the field growing in the Townsite!
