Downtown Muskogee Announces Annual Photo Contest
Downtown Muskogee, Inc. is calling for entries into its “Muskogee in Springtime” Photo Contest. The theme for this year’s competitions is “Beautiful Homes and Gardens.” The contest is open to both professional and amateur photographers using any brand of camera or lens. To capture the beauty of Muskogee in springtime, all photos submitted to the contest must have been taken between April 1 and May 31, 2012. Sponsors for this year’s contest are Oklahoma Natural Gas and Radio Shack.
“Muskogee is well known for its beautiful homes and wonderful gardens. We want this contest to capture that beauty,” explains Jonita Mullins, executive director of Downtown Muskogee, Inc. “Here is an opportunity for area photographers to let their work shine with some beautiful photography. We’re looking for photos of Muskogee at its best.” All photos should be taken within a 10-mile radius of downtown Muskogee.
Prize money will be awarded for the best photo in an Adult Category (18 and older) and Youth Category (age 12 to 17). The amount of the prizes will depend upon the number of entries in the contest. There is a $6 entry fee per photo in the Adult Category and a $3 entry fee per photo in the Youth Category. Each photographer is limited to 6 photo submissions to the contest.
The best photos taken during this period will be selected for an exhibit and sale with funds going to Downtown Muskogee, Inc. Photo credit will be given to the photographer of all photos selected for the exhibit. The photographs will be enlarged and framed, then displayed at downtown businesses.
Photos must be submitted by e-mail or on disk in a digital format to Downtown Muskogee by July 1, 2012. Late entries will not be considered. Each photo should include the photographer’s name, address, phone number, e-mail address, category (Adult or Youth), location of the shot, and date of the shot.
