HDTV and Cash Giveaways Highlight Remington Park Opening Weekend

OKLAHOMA CITY – The 2011 American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed Season begins the Remington Park live racing schedule for the year. The action begins Friday night and continues Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
The scheduled first race on Friday and Saturday is at 6pm with the first Sunday afternoon of racing starting at 1:30pm. Trial races on Friday and Saturday night will determine finalists for many lucrative stakes events later in March, including the historic $350,000 (estimated) Oklahoma Futurity, the longest running futurity in the sport, originating in 1947.
All guests on hand Opening Weekend need to check in at the Lucky Circle Club to gain their entries and be eligible for drawings to win either a 55-inch HDTV or $500 Cash!
Upgrades to fan amenities continue at Remington Park. Noticeably different from the last live race date in 2010 will be new flat screen televisions throughout the Clubhouse floor as well as a remodel of most areas there.
Remington Park will also debut the new Tres Amigos concession featuring Mexican favorites such as burritos, tacos, nachos and other great fare. Tres Amigos is located at Track North.
All Media are invited to a special event on Thursday, March 3 at 10am as the newest and biggest upgrade at Remington Park since the facility opened in 1988 is introduced. Media are asked to make their way to the Plaza, outside next to the race track, where the event will be held in the Winner’s Circle.
HDTVs & Cash Giveaways, Throughout Opening Weekend
Join us on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 4-6 as we kick off the season and celebrate with our guests by giving away 55-inch High Definition TVs and $500 Cash prizes!
A total of 18 drawings will take place, six each day, to giveaway the HDTVs from Best Buy and $500 Cash. On Friday and Saturday, March 4 & 5, drawings will take place at 8pm and 9pm on the Plaza with the final drawings at 11pm in the Casino.
Sunday, March 6 drawings will be conducted at 3pm and 4pm on the Plaza and then at 6pm in the Casino.
At each giveaway time throughout the weekend, the first drawing will be for the 55-inch HDTV from Best Buy, followed by a drawing for $500 Cash!
The first race on March 4 & 5 is scheduled for 6pm with the first race on Sunday, March 6 at 1:30pm.
Lucky Circle Club members can begin earning entries for the HDTV and $500 Cash drawings on March 1 with their play in the casino or on horse racing while using their Lucky Circle Card. Guests must check in at the Lucky Circle Club in the Casino or in the Racing Entrance Lobby on Friday, March 4; Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6 to be eligible. Every guest will receive an additional five entries into the HDTV and $500 Cash drawings when they check in.
EASTEX Headlines Opening Weekend Stakes
The Grade 2, $50,000 Eastex Handicap is the main event for the first weekend of racing, contested Sunday afternoon. A list of 22 nominated for the event with many of the top older horses in the sport poised to compete.
Stolis Winner, the all-time earnings leader in Quarter Horse racing history was nominated but is expected to wait until later this season to make a return to Remington Park. His run to the top of the money list began in earnest here in 2008 when he won the first $1,000,000 Heritage Place Futurity before going on to win the All American Futurity and eventually be voted the World Champion that year.
Among those nominated and expected to enter the Eastex are Dylans Dandy, the winner of the race last year and a winner of 14 career starts; Fishin CR, winner of the Jack Brooks Stakes here last year and the Dash For Cash Derby at Lone Star Park last October; and Streakin Down, winner of the Heritage Place Derby here last year and earner of more than $656,000 overall.
The Eastex, named after the 1984 All American Futurity winner and former all-time leading earner in Quarter Horse racing. The Eastex Handicap will be contested for 4-year-olds and older going 350 yards.
Also on tap Sunday is the $28,000 Mighty Deck Three Handicap for Oklahoma-breds, 3-year-olds and older, going 250 yards.

The Remington Park Friday Night Chats begin 30-minutes prior to the first race of the evening, normally at 5:30pm (central).
Night School – Mondays at 7:30pm
In addition to the Friday Night Live Chat, learn more about handicapping horse racing in the weekly Night School online class, accessible through RemingtonPark.com and HorseplayerNow.com. The 90-minute Night School on Mondays begins at 7:30pm (central) and takes the participant through a curriculum, aimed at increasing their knowledge of how to play the races with a better understanding. With that education will hopefully come more winning and more money!
Night School is presented by the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, the Daily Racing Form and Keeneland.
WINNING 101 – Wednesday, March 9
Attend the Winning 101 forum with Marilyn Toney on Wednesday, March 9 at 7pm in Suite 19 at Remington Park. Professor Toney will provide FREE instruction on how to properly wager on the races while striving for financial benefits with each and every bet made.
The Winning 101 tutorial will take place each Wednesday during the Quarter Horse Season thru May 25. The Winning 101 sessions will begin at 7pm sharp.
The Winning 101 gathering is FREE for all who are ready to begin their horse racing education on: reading past performances, correctly making and communicating your wagers, using a self-service wagering machine, looking for value in playing the races, learning the name of each wager and what they mean and so much more.
