Hunting Areas Open to Archery at Chickasaw National Recreation Area
By Tourism Industry Partner
SULPHUR, Oklahoma: Recreation area hunting areas and the Rock Creek multi-use area, closed to public use since August 19 have been reopened. These areas had been closed due to record drought and extreme fire danger. Hunting areas are open to archery hunting only. Park officials will continue to assess fire danger and make necessary decisions about the various areas of the recreation area. Park Ranger and Chief of Interpretation, Ron Parker said, “We encourage visitors to contact the Travertine Nature Center or the park website for the most current conditions”.
The Rock Creek multi-use area is used for hunting, hiking, bicycling and horseback riding. The land designated for public hunting in the recreation area is prime habitat for deer, dove, wild turkey, quail, rabbit and squirrel hunting.
