City Receives Excellent Response From Community On Proposed Walking & Biking Trail Project

You heard about the need and responded…thank you! Local groups and private citizens have responded to the City’s request to pledge their sponsorship of various amenities for the proposed walking/biking trail. City staff resubmitted this grant application on Tuesday, 1/31/12, to the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department.

“$8,150 in outside monies were pledged by community groups and individuals,” stated Grant Coordinator Larry Eller. “I would like to thank the following for their support of this grant by way of financial pledges for amenities such as signage, benches, trash receptacles and trees: Rotary Club of Miami, David Rountree and Joe Waldon, Police Chief George Haralson, Arvest Bank, High Winds Casino/Ottawa Tribe, First National Bank & Trust, Floyd L Perry American Legion Post 147, Kevin & Kim Horn, Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, NEO A&M College, Carolyn Norton, Kiwanis of Miami, Cablevision Cableone, the Public Works and Solid Waste Departments, and the Miami Firefighters. They can each take pride in their commitment if the grant is awarded to Miami.”

“It’s support such as these people gave that show Miami is a great place to live and raise a family,” stated Mayor Kent Ketcher.
