NORMAN, Ok. – The Norman Arts Council announces the Movies in the Park series that will take place throughout this summer at the lawn north of the Santa Fe Depot. The first Movies in the Park film takes place Friday, June 17, 2011.

“There is nothing that says summer more than watching a movie outside. We are hoping to promote Norman as well as the Downtown Arts District as an evening destination,” said NAC Associate Director Josh Lunsford.

“And there are films already being shown in Norman and we are hoping that we can bring some attention those films as well.”

The Movies in the Park series will play classic films, shorts, and will feature a promotional trailer created by the Cinematic Artists of Norman. The films will begin around 9:30 pm at the lawn north of the Santa Fe Depot. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and refreshments. Arvest Bank has generously donated a popcorn machine for the series. Attendees who would like to use chairs or need assistance based on disability are encouraged to contact the Norman Arts Council office at 405-360-1162.

All notices for the Movies in the Park will be distributed through standard text messages. Anyone who would like to receive notices can text “Sign Up” to 405-928-8278.

The Norman Arts Council’s Movies in the Park series is made possible in part by the generous donations and sponsorships by the Performing Arts Studio, the Cinematic Artists of Norman, the Norman Chamber of Commerce, Gray Owl Coffee, Arvest Bank, and Mark McClellan.
