MUSKOGEE, Okla. (Feb. 22, 2011) –  The Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame & Museum, Inc. (OMHOF) will host an art show and gala event on March 25 at 7 p.m. to help fund a children’s music exhibit at its historic depot.  “The Art of Music” Art Show & Gala will showcase pieces from Oklahoma artists in several different categories.  OMHOF is looking for artists to compete in the event by donating a piece of original artwork.   

     

The project will highlight and promote Oklahoma Visual Artists, and the donated artwork will remain on display at the museum through the month of April during the Azalea Festival.  All artwork will be photographed and added to the OMHOF website, along with a biography and contact information for each artist. 

 

Art classes included in the show are: Painting (acrylic, oil and watercolor), Drawings (pastels, pencil, charcoal and scratchboard), Photography, 3-Dimensional (sculpture, metal, wood, pottery, paper and glass) and Fine Craft (jewelry, fiber and stained glass).  The Best of Show winner will receive $700, and winners will also be selected in each class (1st place - $500, 2nd place - $200, 3rd place - $100).   


The competition is open to anyone who wishes to show and donate his or her piece of art to the OMHOF. Entries must be the artist’s original and must adhere to the theme of Oklahoma music.  Entry fee for the competition is $35 for the first entry (which includes a $25 OMHOF membership), and $10 for each additional entry.  There is a limit of three pieces per class.
