OU Opera Theatre Brings Love, Intrigue, Ruthless Ambition to Stage

(Norman, Okla.) September 28, 2011— “Romans watch their own fates rise and fall with the scheme of Poppea,” says William Ferrara, stage director for the OU School of Music Opera Theatre. “A mistress to Nero, Poppea manipulates her way to seize the throne and the title of Empress of Imperial Rome.”
The University of Oklahoma School of Music Opera Theatre present Claudio Monteverdi’s The Coronation of Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea), a dramatic opera with performances at 8 p.m., Oct. 12, 13, 14 and 15, and at 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 16, in the Weitzenhoffer Theatre located inside the Fine Arts Center. This production is rated R, for matureaudiences.
The cast consists of OU School of Music students: Laura Bartlett, Taylor Bolton, Courtney Bray, Will Browning, Augusta Caso, Teddy Crecelius,Alyssa Devane, Moriah Diers, Anthony Eversole, Clint Gilbert, Lydia Gray, Betsy Hays, Alex Krenz, Jonathan Murphy, Tatiana Ogan, Nicole Robertson, Joseph Ruelle, Madeline Schaefer, Suzanne Stanley, James Stoia, Jack Swanson, Kelli Tucci.
The production staff includes: Jonathan Shames, Artistic Director and Conductor; William Ferrara, Director; Rick Reeves, Scenic, Lighting and Projection Designer; Lloyd Cracknell, Costume Designer; Andrew McQuade, Technical Director; Kelsi Kesler, Production Stage Manager; Kasey Allee-Foreman, Production Manager and Rich Taylor University Theatre Executive Producer.
The University of Oklahoma Fine Arts Center is located at, 563 Elm Ave., in the OU Arts District!
