Start planning NOW to bring your family to the beautiful Santa Fe Depot Museum and Rennie Memorial Gateway Park in Down Town Pauls Valley to celebrate BRICKFEST 2011! May 6 & 7 are the dates to mark on your calendar for tons of fun with something sure to interest every member of the family.


We’ll start things off on Friday afternoon at the Santa Fe Depot area with our vendor booths setting up for business by 3:00 p.m. That evening will feature authentic Oklahoma Blues, Rock & Red Dirt Music!


Saturday morning, May 1st, is when things really start to pick up down town! At 9:00 a.m., the Valley Rally Bike Tour takes off from the Rennie Memorial Gateway Park. Riders from all over Oklahoma will show up for the 32, 48 and 62 mile courses through the beautiful South-central Oklahoma countryside. The event features goodie bags, a prize raffle, and lots more. Rest stops and support are available on the course until 2:00 p.m. For more information contact Jennifer Samford with Pauls Valley Parks and Recreation at 405-238-1238. Also, by 9:00 a.m. vendors will be open for the day at BrickFest! We’ll have all sorts of booths and all sorts of vendors, from bake sales, to arts and crafts and from face painting to Henna Body Art! 


Don’t miss out on some great performances on Saturday, with featured artists THE TEXAS GYPSIES, an acoustic western swing group recently named “Best Western Swing Duo or Group of 2008” by the Academy of Western Artists. Their Debut CD “The Texas Gypsies, won a 2005 Grammy ® Nomination for “Best Jazz Album”.


This year also features the Toy & Action Figure Museum’s Annual Hot Wheels Double Dog Dare Derby where kids of ALL ages bring their favorite Hot Wheels Racers to challenge all comers for the Big Trophy, Great Prizes and Bragging Rights for the year! 


We’ll also have lots of great exhibits and local entertainment for the family at BrickFest BrickFest, like Big Bouncy Inflatable games for kids, a petting Zoo, the Famous Annual Fields Pie Sponsored Pie Eating Contest, Our Annual Brick Toss Competition, Henna Art, Theatrical Fantasy Face Painting, and much more!


Throughout the day, Main Street we’ll be drawing names from event survey cards for prizes donated from area merchants. And while we’re all having fun downtown, don’t forget to pay a visit to the Historic Royal Twin Theater, Garvin county’s OLDEST and ONLY operating movie theater, as they hold a special BrickFest Movie Matinee in two Fabulously Renovated Theater Screens! During the festival parents can use the alley just west of the theater to drop off and pick up the kids from the movies. 


All the day’s excitement will end in a roll of thunder as the Pauls Valley Rotary presents its THUNDER IN THE VALLEY bull ride featuring wild calf dressing and mutton bustin’ for the youngsters. And don’t forget to be on the lookout for Miss Rodeo USA throughout BrickFest AND Thunder in the Valley!
